The most I ever paid for a pistol was close to a grand...It was for a Kimber Pro CDP...To me...The gun didnt really feel well built at all...It actually felt kinda cheap...It shot ok but not great...I kept saying to myself..." Damn...you just spent a grand on this..what in hell were you thinking !! " I couldnt even imagine some people who literally spend thousands of dollars on a customized 1911...How do you guys feel about this ??

I paid $700 bucks for a Sig P-220 a couple of years ago. That's the most I've spent on my hobby. Was it worth it? Absolutely. It's a great pistol IMO although I'll probably never spend that much again.
This is just my opinion of course but I really don't think $1,500 dollar 1911's are worth it. I had a Springfield Armory lightweight Champion I got on sale for a little less than $500 a year or so ago. It was a very nice shooter and stone cold reliable.
It's just me, but I can't justify anything over $500 bucks or so. Best, John

Close to a grand for me as well

on a Kimber Custom Eclipse II when they were first released. More by a long shot than I'd ever spent before, but after looking at it and fondling it in the store, knew I had to have it. First time at the range I was still second-guessing myself until the first five shots at 8 yards went into one ragged hole... :) :)

Expensive and worth it?

Well, I have only bought eight handguns. The most I paid for any one was $500 for a new Glock 23, 3rd generation, adjustable sights. Was it worth it? I'm not sure...

Well, I am ashamed to admit that I have over $2800 in a p-12, I do love it but I hardly ever shoot it and never carry it. I also have over $1500 in several saa's.

Given my finacial situation, no they probally arn't worth it.

$1241 for a Shansei Arsenal .45 ACP Broomhandle Mauser. For a gun listing at $5000 in the reference books of the time, I thought I got a good deal, as this gun was as-NIB, with very little wear showing on the moving parts. It's so new, it's not even broken in yet.

No regrets at all. It's a great conversation stopper/starter, as it's HUGE, which is visible even from a distance. An absolute prize, for a good $1000 cheaper than all the rest I've looked at, and in much better condition.

$830 for a Kimber CC Stainless Target. Worth it? Hell yeah !!!
Especially when I looked at 2 - 5 shot groups that measured 1.46" and .88 " at 25 yds. That puppy shoots better than I'll ever be.

$1300 for a Springfield Professional that didn't have but maybe a box of shells through it.

Considering what the things retail for, I think I made out like a bandit.

Paid $725 for a Smith model 52 with all the factory accessories.
one box of bullets thru it.

Traded it for a H&K usp tactical LNIB. the Tactical is supposed to be worth 900-1000:eek:

bought a used desert eagle .357 for $600. I thought it was worth the price, but it was a total impulse buy that I really didn't have the money for so I sold it 2 weeks later for $650 to pay my bills.

$2200.00 for Wilson Combat Protector with Custom Double Diamond Checkered Ivory Grips. Worth every penny.

I have spent $600 on three pistols..one was a LNIB Glock 35 when they had first come out. Another was a new Glock 21 with nightsites. Both of these were worth it........the other was an HK USP .45. It was a nice gun, but not worth it compared to the Glocks IMO.

Up until now, the most I've spent was $729 for my HK USP .45 Compact, but I'm going to spend probably around $1200 on a P7M8 in a couple weeks. I'm sure it will be worth every penny!

If not, I can always sell it and buy 2 or 3 different guns with the money.

I paid $799.00 for a customized colt officers model serials 80.It had all of the tricks done to it and no it was not worth the money.
