What's the biggest pistol you've ever carried concealed?

BFR 45/70 In a chest holster under a duster.

The gun has a 10 inch barrel and is very large. I could not carry it under normal clothing.

On a regular basis, 5" 1911 or full size M&P45. Typically IWB or pancake OWB under a loose outer shirt. On rare occasions, 4" M29 or 6" 1911. OWB under a heavier shirt (chamois or flannel) or jacket.

It never occurred to me to carry my 357 with 8" barrel until a range officer said he'd carry it if he had it. When he said that a light went off in my head and I seriously considered carrying this long ass revolver, but finding an appropriate holster for concealment was next to impossible. On the bright side it gives me an excuse to buy the GP100 with 4.2" barrel I've been lusting after.

PT-99 under my winter coat with a Blackhawk holster. It is my truck gun when not my CCW.

At 5'7 140lbs get something alot smaller than the GP100. When I first started carrying I was very ignorant and set on carrying my 686 with 4" barrel despite what others told me. Well to make a long story short I carried it for a week or two and hated it, and immediately purchased a J frame. Right now the largest handgun I carry is an SR9C.

I carried a S&W 500 4" in a generic IWB holster a few times to see if it could be realistically done. Actually, it wasn't that bad but I am a fairly big guy. I really needed a good, heavy, thick belt and some roomy trousers.:D

Quad, M2 50 cal with a 200 round cloth belt. Carried them back in '68 when I sometimes went UA for a Coca Cola...with lemmon. (UA...Unauthorized Abscense)

@Frizzman - To be entirely honest I really have no desire to carry a concealed handgun. The problem is I work all over the state of Michigan doing bridge repair and I'm away from home for weeks at a time. When it rains or we have an unexpected work stoppage I'm stuck in a motel room with nothing to do and I really get an itch to shoot. The way I understand the laws in Michigan right now I'm only allowed to transport a handgun in the trunk of my car on the way to a shooting range or gunshow or gunstore. The last thing I want to have happen is get in trouble and getting a concealed carry permit seems like the obvious solution. The only problem being how do I conceal a big honkin revolver like a long barreld 686 or GP100 since these are the type of guns I enjoy shooting.

A quality shoulder holster with a button shirt or windbreaker will be your best bet. I am 5'8 185lbs and if you read my last post I mentioned how it was tough for me to conceal my 4" 686. Since I am not very tall when I went to sit down it would clink into the seat of my chair. Also the thing was so damn heavy I was constantly having to adjust my pants. Not something you want to lug around all day unless you absolutely have to, and if you don't then chances are you wont carry it very long.

Pistol

At times I carry a FN .45 Tactical with Trijicon red dot in a custom Kydex belt holster I had made. It conceals fairly well with the Kabar vest I normally wear. It will print a smidgen though. Size is not the problem, the weight is. A large .45 with 16 rounds is a wee bit heavy even in plastic. The pistol itself is, in my opinion, "the best available". There is nothing a pistol can do - that the FN won't do. Actually it's "more" than a pistol with the Trijicon. If you wish to shoot a squirrel in the head at 20 yards or a Terroist in the eye at 50 the FN Trijicon combo will do do it. If you can. All that being said, I normally carry a Glock 23 stoked with Glock 22 mags and a collar to fill the "gap".

Ruger Super Blackhawk with a scope. It was in a chest holster under a heavy winter coat so it could be considered as "concealed". Bambi had no idea I was armed and brazenly entered my space resulting in a confrontation.

I carried a Glock 22 .40 because I was waiting on my G27 and was required to carry. But it was only for a week or so. Not comfortable.

Many years ago when I was a security guard for awhile on night patrol, a 8 and 3/8ths inch barrel model 29 S&W in a shoulder holster I made myself under my security guard jacket. Still got that holster but I took off the shoulder harness and made it a belt hang holster.
