What Would You Carry If Government/Military Calibers Were Banned?

An obvious choice might be a high cap Glock in 45GAP, still practical in size and easy to reload for. However, another potential ban scenario would likely be a 9mm Luger or larger cartridge size. In which case, and a 9x18 cartridge, either makarov or ultra would fit the loophole and be quite serviceable.

I'm not turning in guns or ammo ban be damned. I'll continue to carry whatever I've got ammo for. Concealed means concealed after all.

If police and or military cartridges ever get banned, it would be a boost for the .327 however..... :)

What Would You Carry If Government/Military Calibers Were Banned?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was reading about Gun Laws in other countries and thought this would be an interesting thread. If all Government/Military calibers (9mm, 40 S&W, 357 SIG, 45 ACP) were banned for civilian use what would you carry?

List your caliber and weapon choice.

First, I'd look to fantasy land, after that who knows, or cares!:D

Gen 4 Glock 29 10MM

Witness polymer Compact 10MM

COLT 100 year Commander in .38 SUPER

STAG ARMS model 8 .300 Whisper.

I like the Constitution. but I would probably opt for a 357 magnum snubnose or a comander sized 38 Super for conceled carry. A 44 special in a revolver, a full sized 357, or a 38 Super /10mm in full sized 1911 format for open carry.

Whatever you decide on, make sure you fill your tinfoil hat all the way up with ammo...................you know before big brother comes.............:rolleyes:

Perhaps a bit of clarity?
When you say Government or military, would that mean current or any caliber used by the military or a government agency at some point?
Does obsolescence or lack of current use matter in this scenario?
Bye Bye:
.38 special - military
.45 Long Colt - Single Action Army meant just that.
10 mm - Didn't the FBI use it?
.357 magnum - I'd bet that any number of federal agencies used it at one time or another.

Geez, make mine a 9x25 Dillon or a .41 mag.
I would hope it never comes to this.

Sorry if someone already posted a similar response. Running late for work and I didn't read every post.

If the government banned military calibers... I'd recommend that we all get together and turn the 9mm, 40sw, 45acp, etc. into the 9mm, 40, 45, etc. GADSEN ;)

OK, I wasn't going to reply as I generally don't get involved with hypothetical scenarios. That being said, here goes.

Like jhenry I would carry (I already do in my iPhone) a pocket copy of The Constitution. I would also carry my voters registration Card and ID so I can vote out the SOB's that passed unconstitutional laws. Additionally I would carry a soapbox and bull horn so I could voice my opinion to all who will listen.

I would carry a phone number of my attorney as I'm certain I would be repeatedly arrested for civil disobedience while exercising my first amendment rights.

I would carry my resume as I would probably be sacked after becoming a vocal opponent of the new order.

Having said all of that, I would certainly loose my right to carry concealed weapons of any kind/caliber as my state would take away my CHL due to the civil disobedience violations.

After re-reading this post, I realize that I do most of these things now and hope most of us who post/lurk here do the same. Please get involved in politics, not just the presidential race but at all levels. Keep in mind that our President's biggest power (and longest lasting) is to appoint federal judges and Supreme Court Justices. It is better to prevent ridiculous legislation that subverts our basic rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness than to plan for the eventuality when it is lost.

Really?

Most states mention "crime of violence" or stuff that will get you a 1 year in prison ...... scary.....
