What would be the one rifle to have if you could only have one?

I just finished reading this month’s article in the American Rifleman magazine on the Ruger Gunsite Scout rifle and I will have to own one.
But the article brought out a good question that I am going to selfishly steel by asking the same question to everyone here.
What would be the one rifle to have if you could only have one? Out of all the guns I own, it would be the 03-A3 that I own.

T/C Pro hunter, 1 gun but as many barrels as I can buy.

Or my Savage 10 FCP in 308 win, small enough to varmint hunt bu big enough to take big game.

If I could only have one rifle? one of my 308s. Either the Savage or the Saiga.

I'm good with either.

Not sure I could live without a 22 rimfire though, there seems no point in owning a centerfire if you don't also have a rimfire for cheap practice and fun.

I don't ever see that happening cause I'm not selling or trading any but:

Based on the way I shoot and what I shoot, I'd have to say my M1 Garand. It can be used for hunting, even varmits. I shoot competition, HP CMP-GSM, and even multi gun. It can be used for those events also. I guess except for Small Bore, it would work with just about anything I do in rifle games.

And with cast bullets I can shoot it dern near as cheap as I can shoot my pistol/revolvers.

Single shot bolt action 22 caliber rifle with iron sights, any make. All I need for survival and if I have to face hostile hordes the only thing they will see of me is my back side.

I like a heck of alot of rifles so this really is a good tough thread, I like all the ones I own now but IF, and only IF I could have just one, I really like the "Non Typical" from GA Precision.. Google the name and it comes right up...:) and I like .270 or 7mm,Rem mag.;)

Hooligan, looks like a nice rifle but you can only get it in short cartridge rounds so .270 is out. .270 WSM would be possible.

I'd probably get an AR platform chambered in 7.62/.308, Maybe a Larue Tactical. Could be used as a hunter plenty accurate and also as a defensive rifle. If I could only have one rifle I am thinking the world is in a bad way and I am going to be having to hump through the woods with said rifle on my back too.

If its gotta be a more typical style gun I'd probably choose a Marlin 336 in .30-30. For the reliability of lever action and hunter/defense repeater ability of it.

It would be one of my SEI built M14s... probably this one.

Four-way way tie:

- Win 94 24" round bbl, full mag, pre safety. Not sure if they made one Post 64/Pre Safety, but they did in 7-30 Waters, a gem of a rifle in 80s in XTR/AE form. So, for ammo availability, maybe make one up (ca 1982-85ish) in .30-30 if not already available. Otherwise, looking at Pre War. This choice as an overall do-all choice, esp if HD not an overwhelming factor (see next two) but still can handle that duty, just not as well.

- Mini 14 6.8 SPC

- Mini 30 - (7.62x39) recent year improved, perhaps the new Tactical, though I trend toward wood stocks.

(These last two if HD takes priority in final voting and *can* do the medium game--and theoretically large close-up-- hunting role).

- Win 69A .22LR bolt with 5 and 10 rd mags. Agree with posts that you "have to have" a good .22. This one tied with the 30-30 as the visceral fave. Hard to think of as one and only though.
