What was your first shotgun?

Bought it last night

Bought a Remington 12ga Wingmaster 870tb last night (10/19/2005). Going shooting (trap) tonight. :D :D

Don't laugh ya'll. But, mine was a 1934 Stevens humpback pump 12ga. I don't remember the model number, but I do remember it being 10 years ago. Up to then, I'd always toted my Dads' old 16ga bolt action.

My favorite? I've longed most of my life for a Browning Sweet 16. I finally have one- this year.

My first Shotgun was a Beretta Silver Pigeon 12 gauge that my parents gave me for my 19th birthday. I then got a one in 20 gauge for my 21st birthday. I love both of them and they really look good together.

I feel old- - - - - -

My grandpa gave me SXS for my first gun a long time ago. It was a 12ga "Eclipse Wonder" 12ga. #5912D.-- Damascus Finish Belgium--with exposed hammers. I fired alot of paper shells and harvested plenty of ringnecks and canadian geese. If I remember correctly, he said the bore was lined and ok to shoot the "new" loads. So I did. I still have that old shotgun.

Benelli Nova shortly after they were introduced to the masses. Does everything I want it to, well.

Mossburg 410 bolt, 2 1/2 in. shells, hard to find then.
Traded for a new model 37 Winchester 20 gauge, killed a truckload of pheasants with it.
I now have 37s in 12, 20, and .410.
Just bought the 12 for $67:D , took it to the trap club, got a 24, and a bruise.

My first was an old Pre-WWII "Crescent". I think it was sold by J. C. Penney for less than $20. A side/side with concealed hammers and two triggers. Gotten a little loose at the breach (but repairable) so I quit shooting it. Every once in a while I pull it from the safe and think "Hacksaw". Might make it "Just barely legal" and keep around for HD. Two rounds of #4 should be all that is necessary.

My Great-Grandad's SxS .410 American Western Arms/Ithaca (I kid you not, both names are on the barrels). Dunno designation, and have never seen another one like it. Nice family heirloom, though--and yes, it still works :D

H & R 16ga single shot that my dad bought me when i was twelve. I gave it to my grandson last year. I also have a mdl 31 Rem. in cherry condition with his name on it.

I was 8 yrs/old. Mossberg 410 bolt action. That shotgun has more critters and grouse on it then all my other shotguns combined! I give it credit for making me the "GREAT":o shot I am today! You try shooting a grouse in heavy cover in the northern part of Wi. It's like a jungle. If you can hit well with an underpowered load and small amount of shot, you can hit with anything.
I just recently gave it to my twin's son as a first gun for him. Boy was that hard to do!:( Nice to "keep it in the family" for a tradition.....I guess...:(

My first was/is an 870 Express combo in 20ga. Has the smoothbore with rifle sights barrel and a 28" barrel with Remchokes. Someday I might even get around to getting some more chokes for the long barrel.

My first to fire was my grandfather's old Newman (??) .410 side by side. I actually hit pretty well with it, for a first-timer. And I still want my own side by side, 20 or 12 gauge... :D

First shotgun used was a 24" Winchester M12 with a twist-adjustable choke. First shotgun owned was a Baikal IZH-43 Bountyhunter II hammerless SxS with 26" fixed choke barrels, 12 gauge/2.75".

First SG I ever fired was the family Sears 12g pump. I'm not sure who even actually owns it, but it's been passed around for about 40years now. Thing is a monster. Has to weigh 20 pounds with a 30 inch barrel topped off with one of those big can switch chokes, the IC and Mod chokes disappered long before I shot it.
My first SG was a Mossberg bolt action 20g. My father was and is a huge fan of his .410 bolt but always thought the .410 was an experienced shooter's gun, not a beginner's. I still thank him for that.
Not long after that my Grandfather gave me my first true love, his old Stevens 311 12g. Many have come and gone since, but that 311 will be buried with me.
