What was your first shotgun?

My first was a stevens 59A .410 bolt action shotgun given to me by my pops when i was 13 i believe. Im in the process of refinishing the stock right now...love that gun.

The first I shot was my dad's J.C. Higgins 12 ga. 1960 dove season, I was 11 years old. He stood me on a log in front of him and let me shoot at some doves on the riverbank. Then he said: "That's the LAST time you will shoot at birds on the ground".

The first I owned was a Remington Mohawk 48 12 ga I bought in 1971 for $75. I still own it.

I inherited an Ithaca Model 37 12ga shotgun from my grandfather earlier this year. I think he used to hunt w/ it. I have never shot it, but plan to do a range "test" w/ it sometime soon.

NEF single shot 20 gauge given to me by my grandfather for my... 12th? 12th birthday, I believe... plus or minus a year.

My Papaw gave me his savage/stevens single shot 20ga when I was 14. That was one of the best days of my life. I wouldn't give it up for anything.

Model 12 - 20 gauge plain barrel well worn

Model 12 - 20 gauge plain barrel well worn. By the time it came down to me the firing pin retractor had broken at the pin hole and half had been lost - the gun had been put up (taken out of service) when a piece came out and I had the pleasure of taking the gun down per the book, buying the part from Numrich and installing it - along with buying snap caps!

Safety First

My dad got me my first shotgun when I was twelve. He was a stickler for safety. He got me a 12 gauge, Savage side-by-side. The break open shotguns are pretty easy to render safe.

The first one I fired was an old stevens .410 single shot that belonged to my friend's grandfather.

I bought(paid for) my first shotgun when I was just barely 14, a year and a half ago. It was a Maverick 88 in 12 guage and I still have it and love it. It is my loaner shotgun for when I take friends to the range and I enjoy shooting trap with it.

Really great beginner gun, especially for the price.

Winchester 1300 XTR with a 28" barrel...blued with walnut stock and fore-end. High school graduation present in 1989.

First shot gun was given to me by Dad a Parker 2 3/4" 12 gage with 28" barrels. I wish I had a set of barrels that handles steel shot. Bismuth is expensive.

First shotgun I bought is a Remington 870 Wing Master Mag. also 28" barrel.

Single Shot 12 Guage, Damn Thang Kicked Like A Mule. :d

THE BEST SHOTGUN I BOUGHT IS MY REMINGTON 11-87 12 GUAGE.

Browning BPS youth model 20 ga. Given to me on my 12th (or was it 13th) Christmas. We went out and shot it, and i remember thinking. . . "WOW" (the recoil hurt!) It was the first time I had ever fired a firearm. :D

(a few years down the road, dad had to give me a lecture about shooting a 22: "now this will feel like a toy compared to a shotgun, but you need to know that if you put a bullet in this gun, point it as someone and pull the trigger, it can kill someone).
