What is your 'perfect' home defense handgun?

Because the title of the thread said handgun! I will throw out my vote for what I use, my FNX-45 with my M3 light on it. It has plenty of ammo on tap and is a large frame solid gun that I shoot well and most 45 is sub sonic so my hearing will have a chance.

My CZ-75 is my go to home defense pistol. If I was engaged with multiple assailants that refused to leave after I started cracking off 9mm rounds at them I guess I would use it to get to my AK.

Mine is my trusty 1991 Beretta 92FS Inox (stainless). I used to keep her loaded with a 30rd magazine, but these days she sports regular Airtronix milspec 15 rounders.

Since I know handguns are at best a compromise, I'll go with whatever is in the safe on my nightstand and there's liable to be anything in there. Currently there's a Sig P229 40 and as always a surefire flashlight

Subsonic or supersonic only really makes a difference if fired thru a suppressor. Any 45acp load is NOT anymore hearing safe then a 9mm or 40s&w...especially if fired indoors

I have two at arms reach at all times. FNX-45 and a Kahr CM45, both loaded with Golden Saber 185s.

Being a revolver guy for the most part, it pains me to admit that a good,strike that, a great pistol equipped with a coaxial light, and night sights plus your cell phone will fill your needs. They are the two best defense tools for home and family protection IMHO. You'll also need a plan, and absolute knowledge of your family's whereabouts each and every night.

For us, it's a Sig 226, with the above enhancements on my night stand. When I'm away, my wife uses either her Glock 23 or a S&W M637.
