What is your favorite pistol and why?

I've said it before, I can't even pick out a least favorite, forget picking a favorite.

My Hi power is, however, a comfortable, fine fitting, wonderful piece to shoot. I will carry it around more often than any of my others. That's the closest I'm coming to picking a favorite.

Really tough question but I would suppose my favorite just to shoot is my Ed Brown Special Forces. It's beautiful, smooth, feels right, and shoots nice to boot.

92 years old, pitted dark 92 year old barrel. It rattles. I can group 2" with it and I've only put 50 rounds through the thing. I think it's my favorite

My favorite without a doubt is my Springfield 1911, but a close second is my Smith and Wesson model 57 41 mag with the pinned barrel and recessed cylinder.

Springfield XD9 subcompact:

* One trigger mode
* No manual safety
* Points like my index finger
* Sights are quick to acquire (I'm cross-eye dominant, and the short 3" barrel helps in this area)
* Ambidextrous mag release (I practice with both hands)
* As accurate in my hands as my old 4" revolvers, Sig 226, Ruger MKII, and XD9 5"
* No glitches in 2,600 rounds
* 13+1 rounds in a compact package; 16+1 in a slightly less compact package
* $8.50/box steel-cased range fodder; $6.50/box handloaded range fodder; Federal HST 124-gr +P for carry/defense.
* Light and compact enough for easy carry IWB or OWB, and also suitable for home defense.

I have two.

It’s far from the most practical; I’m still trying to find a set of grips that work for me, but my M 27 – 2, 6”. The reason is simple; the old N frames were and still are the height of gun makers’ art.

It's a toss up between a CZ-75B, a good 1911, or a Ruger GP100. All reliable, accurate and look good. I know, what's good looking about the Ruger? I don't know but it looks good!

Fav.

Favorite handgun....
For hunting - a T/C Contender 10" bbl. 30-30 Win. or .44 Mag. Easy to carry. Lots of power. Accurate.
For other purposes - tough to decide - I suppose a 1911 as it is the only gun that I have two of. Accuracy, reliability, power.

Are you gonna pull those pistols or whistle Dixie?

Do revolvers count?

My favorite "pistol" is probably the Glock 23 although I really enjoy the Ruger Mark II. Don't have so many "pistols"; mostly revolvers.

Colt Hammerless Automatics would be my #1 choice. I just purchased my first examples in both .25 ACP and .380 ACP. I may add the .32 ACP just for completeness.

Reasons - owning a piece of history, innovative design for their time and relative rarity in any kind of decent original condition. No plastic pistol (of which I own and like several very much) will ever compare to these classics.

I'm with Aarond on the revolvers... S&W Model 10s are my favorites.

My wife is my favorite little pistol. You should see how mad she gets when I come home with a new toy (car, antique or gun). She looks like Mt. Saint Helen erupting! COOL :-)

Probably my 2003 CZ 75BD. Now that I have a good cast boolit for it, the thing shoots like a laser for 1/4 the cost of storebought ammo.
