What is your favorite pistol and why?

What gun made today or is no longer being made is your favorite pistol and why? I lean toward the John Browning pistols. Recently I have found myself admiring a glock 17.

Whatever gun I happen to be shooting. With only a couple exceptions I've had fun with everything I've shot.

I do have a couple preferences. If .45 was as cheap as .22 I'd shoot my 1911 and SAA a lot more. As it is My Ruger Mk II and my S&W 617 get the most range time.

CZ 75/85 series. Ergonomics and features. I am also partial to the major Browning designs for the same reasons.

Favorite gun = 1911. Feels perfect in the hand like no other pistol. Shoots more accuratly than any of the other 30+ handguns I've owned. Trigger is hard to beat, even untuned. Can be customized to any shooters specifications. Availability of parts.

+1 Buzzcock
The .45's in 1911 platform would be my choice also. Most range time would go to the MKI, II's and my ccw's, either the S&W 642 or 442.

I love my 1911's, Hi-powers, revolvers, etc, but my favorite pistol is my Glock 19 because of its utilitarian, simplicity and ruggedness.

I have a .45 Long Colt, Beretta Stampede, . . . it has a dark blued finish and color case hardeneing on the frame.

Other than being a very good looking hand gun, . . . which I greatly appreciate, . . . it is also really fun to shoot. I just wish I had time to develop my skill with it better.

May God bless,
Dwight

Range pistols -EEA Witness Elite Match and S&W 1911.45 in Melonite - why, accurate, never fails, and it's 10mm and .45...

CCW - Colt Night Defender, Glock 36 w/laser, or S&W M&P .40C take your pick why, all reliable, accurate, and never fail, all large caliber man stoppers.

BUG - Ruger LCP .380 or Ruger LCR .38spcl, why, lightweight, easy to hid never fail, accurate...

Everything residing in my safe or in my pocket right now (and a few I have my eye on)

I'm not a collector and I don't keep guns that don't work.

Very good question for a thread OP!:D

I've been a handgun shooter for longer than I like to admit (since the mid 1970's).

I've owned and still own the best of the best -- Beretta, Colt, S&W, Sig, HK, Browning, Walther, etc. -- No Hi Points or Taurus here.

I have several favorite pistols and it's based on their reliability, accuracy and ergonomics.

Beretta 92 FS, BHP, Sig P220, Sig P226, HK P30 L, HK 45 C, Walther PPS.

They all run like Swiss timepieces with just regular cleaning and lubrication.

When it comes to my family's safety, I want absolute dead nuts reliability.

"Browning Pistol" is pretty vague and broad. Care to narrow it down? 1911, BHP, Et Cetera.

By favorite depends on the situation.

Welcome to TFL.
By any chance are you relatively new to firearms?

Mine favorite's my HK USPc 9mm. It was my first handgun and even though I've been kinda rough with her, she's taken it like a champ. She's been dropped twice pretty good, ran over while rock crawling and to this day has just over 60K rounds through her without a single malfunction. I don't see too many other's being able to handle all I've put her through.

S&W Model 696. 3 in. bbl. It's the same size and weight as the 686 .357 (extremely popular gun) but makes much bigger holes with less recoil and will fire any type of bullet style I want. Won't jam. Doesn't leave empty cases all over the place.:D

My favorite handgun is the 4" Colt Diamondback in 22LR. I love the size, balance, and accuracy of the ones I've shot. They also are fairly collectable in 22.

Favorite(s)

I really like my S&W 1911 but I have developed "Reloader's Flinch" where I keep one eye on target and the other on my brass bouncing downlane

My 6" Ruger in .357 on the other hand is nothing but fun to shoot :D

Favorite pistol (don't tell the others) is a Para Ordnance LDA Companion with 3.5" bbl. Revolver is a S&W M19 with 2.5" bbl.

Both are accurate, comfortable and totally reliable shooters.
