What is your all time favorite "fun" caliber for the range?

9mm.

.22LR can take a hike. Too many unreliable guns and too much unreliable ammo.

When I want recoil, I shoot a few 12-gauge slugs.

plinking .22 rimfire, self protection 45 acp or short barreled .45 long colt D/A ported 3" tube.

For revolver it is my .41 mag I can load light with Trail Boss and knock down the steels till the range closes. I can load hot and it hits realy hard.
For semi auto .45 acp with my 200 grain home cast LSWC at a price of about 4 cents or less it is very cheap to shoot, and it is a tack driver.
For magnum semi auto I love my Wildey .357 Wildey Mag. I inherited it from my grampa. It is insanely acurate. Being it is a .475 Wildey mag necked down to .357 It will put 190 grain bullets out at an astonishing velocity. Not to mention that it sounds like an elephant gun when fired. Only problem I have is brass is hard to find for it theese days, and expensive when I can. It gets fired rarely, but I know I have a huge grin on my face when I shoot it. :D

I think the most fun I've had while shooting was with a .22

my friend and I would challenge each other to hit random things at all sorts of different ranges as a friendly competition. and more often than not we'd hit what ever it was on the first shot.

that and theres nothing like a good .45

Speaking strictly on the merits of the cartridge, not necessarily the practicality (economy/ease) of it....but, were it not for the cost and availability issue, .32 H&R Mag hands down. A great joy. Shoot that stuff all afternoon, unlike even "just" a .38--however loaded--with similar (otherwise) ballistics. A puttycat to shoot (even with "warm" loads), but the even better part is you definitely have enough pop to know you aren't shooting any .22__anything. Nicest centerfire to shoot out there. I imagine the .327's going to be similar (in terms of enjoyment) especially out of a Ruger, just more of a good thing.

Fun calibers are probably 22LR and 41 mag. The stuff I practice with are 357/38spl and 40 S&W for protection purposes. Everything else is pretty much fun shooting where the only person I am trying to please is myself.

No contest. Full house .357. Love the BOOM & fireball from a healthy charge of 2400 under a 158gr pill.

Putting 6 rds COM at a brisk DA pace @ 10yds is a challenge.

When I get my 4" M29...:D

9mm. or .22 i can shoot forever without spening a lot of $$. but it still is a ton of fun to bust out the deagle. 50 casue i like to turn heads with the noise :)

I would have to say 9mm because of its low cost,(as far as centerfires are concerned.) .45 ACP, I love shooting my 1911s and it so happens thats what they usually shoot. .357 out of my 6" gp100 because its just fun as hell. And of course .22 lr for all day, low priced enjoyment....
