What clothing am i missing that may help conceal my ccw?

Non-solids because they tend to break up any outline better than a simple solid color. Try wearing two same sized shirts - one solid and one plaid or similar (hawaiian) - the shirt can be so busy-looking, that any outline is well masked

oneounceload...

... in the fabrics I favor, it really doesn't seem to matter.

With a thinner fabric, I can see where it would matter a great deal.

I have some Royal Robbins herringbones that are actually comfortable in summer heat; REI sells them for hikers. They are good at wicking sweat, and comfortable even in a GA or NC summer, worn unbuttoned and untucked over a finished T.

I've worn anything from a P220 to a CZ75B to a DW CBOB to a GP100 to an N-Frame under those, and nobody the wiser. One is blue, one is khaki, neither are patterned. But the structure of the fabric itself minimizes printing.

I forgot where I got this image from, but it might help you in regards to your selection of clothing or holster.

I cannot stand dress shirts with a collar,

Cut them off, and the sleeves. Makes a $3 bargian shirt feel like a million bucks.

Im a very set in my ways type even at age 39.I was born in jeans i think, but im wondering if im not missing the great thing called "cargo" pants?

Nope.
I tried the cargo pants - no go. Gun's too bouncy in the leg pocket. They're made out of wimpy fabric, won't last long, at least the ones I've seen. Style is too suburban for a 42 yr old set in his ways redneck.

anyone that wears camo year round screams gun

no....anyone that wears flowery hawaiian shirts outside of hawaii screams gun. honestly...what is concealed about that style???? you automatically stick out because no one wears flowery hawaiian shirts unless they're vacationing at a beach somewhere....maybe thats not how it is in most places, but even i know that hawaiian shirts in MS are a no-no

Now that it's winter I wear a tucked Tee shirt and either a short sleeved "Hawaiian" shirt (cheap at JC penny close out) or one the type sweat shirts that have pockets and a zippered neck. This summer I wore only an untucked Tee and Shorts. It took a while but I finally made a kydex holster that keeps the 9c close to my side. I need something that's easy to remove so a paddle fits my carry style better than a belt or IWB holster. I used a blade-tech paddle attachment and come up with my own kydex taco, without any of that offset that everyone seems to think is needed, this saves 1/2-3/4"

Hawaiin shirts are the way to go. You can get subtle prints that don't scream too loudly if you pick and choose. I've slowly built a collection and they work great.

I like to use a long sleeve thermal to cover the barrel and a season appropriate jacket (there's always an appropriate jacket here:D) or flannel to break up the handle, just takes a second or two longer to get it out; still a net gain as I have been carrying off-body for some time. I am moving away from off-body carry now that I have a nice Galco OWB for my revolver... but the messenger bag and cheapo Bulldog nylon belt holster served me well for years. Over-sized 'hoody' sweatshirts are good, and very common here in the grungy NW, as are cargo pants, windbreakers and flannels (especially chamois).

Nice toys PBP, and here I thought you only played with/collected Colts!

Good IWB holster (I've got a Crossbreed Supertuck) and a black t-shirt. Most of my t-shirts are already black (band logos and whatnot) so I'm good to go. I'll be using the same rig, but with a jacket over it in winter (NE Florida doesn't really warrant a huge wardrobe shift). Don't overthink it. If a dark t-shirt doesn't work, you might need a better holster.

Google or Bing for guyabera shirt. These are the Mexican, Cuban, etc version of a Hawaiian shirt only somewhat more formal. Sometimes called a wedding shirt they are just perfect for concealed carry, particularly in dark colors.

I wear what's comfortable and, in all honesty, I really didin't have to modify my wardrobe much at all to conceal my gun. I carry a Glock 23, so it's not a small gun and even in just jeans or shorts and t shirts I have minimal printing and the only time I find I really have an issue is if I have to reach over my head for something. I've found in the past couple months that more than anything else a good sturdy leather belt is about the most important thing for good concealment, at least for me that is.

I think the only wardrobe item I've seen that absolutely screams gun is the "tactical" (I frickin hate that word) style vest. You know the one. The 5.11 or Blackhawk or whatever other compnay vest that hangs down to butt cheek level and has about 19,000 pockets and D-rings and zippers and some even have MOLLE straps. Those vests are best way to announce to the world that you're carrying a gun. NOt to mention they just make you look like a douche.

Dickies makes a lot of tuff work and semi dress style shirts in many different patterns and you do not have to look like a hawaiian flower pot walking around.....The Hawaiian shirts are almost as well known as the cammo to scream out THERES A GUN HERE.

I love Colts, but most of my carry guns are of a different variety. I have come to greatly appreciate the benefits of polymer frames for CC.

Wow,lots of good info and answers since i was last online!
First off i did pick up 1 pair of Levi brand khaki cargo's just to see how i like them.Im sure they can come in handy one day.
I ALWAYS use holsters, even my mouse guns. With a slight exception of me turning my jeans left back pocket into a holster itself with a vinyl slip cover for my PPS 9.Its such a tight fit and nothing else is carried there i feel its as good as any holster anyhow.
I doubt ill wear any floral Hawaiian prints,or any floral prints for that matter.Im a large guy and stand out enough and i want to blend in actually.

I wouldn't say im trying to change my style of dress and change it to fit around ccw.Im just trying to make it easier and give myself more options.
Plus a whole wardrobe of jeans and tshirts isn't a hard thing to change or improve apon.
I did pick up another lite jacket that is basically a lined shirt. Those make OWB a lot easier. And maybe thats my goal on this right now,to make OWB easier.Reason is ive found my full sized 1911 unwearable IWB.
But i have other guns for IWB so no worries.

ritepath- Thats a nice looking holster you did.I keep forgetting to order more kydex and supplies but i will soon.I enjoy making things like that and also helps to modify the holsters i have now even better.

I suppose some day soon ill nail down 2 guns which i can carry for every occasion and never want to carry anything else, and for those ill buy nice expensive holsters for.As i do agree the best holster you can afford is always a good bet.
Im in the process of owning 4-5 gun to ccw with to see what i like and will do what i want with whatever clothing i have.
Once i get past that i can really invest better.
I have Galco,Desantis,Unkle Mike and a few others which are decent holsters. But the real comfort will come when i buy good purpose made leather holsters,or try making them myself.I can do kydex rather well now.

I don't know why im stressing over this now more than i did this summer.I dislike IWB as by nature it isn't as comfy as OWB,but i didn't mind it.Except my 1911 IWB that was harsh.

A good IWB holster like the MTAC, a good belt like one from the Beltman, a solid color T shirt, tucked, with a button up plaid or patterned shirt, unbuttoned and untucked, over it. Depending on the temperature, the outer shirt can be either long sleeves or short sleeves.

As for pocket carry in any kind of pants, get a pocket holster. It holds the gun in the upright position, covers the trigger, and prevents the bouncing around that people complained about. Concealed carry is not hard, it just takes a little thought and planning.

Ill be the first to admit i skimped a bit on ccw accessories, but i did buy decent stuff. It just isn't top of the line.
Anyhow i do have a decent belt, but not made from beltman.
I have good decently built brand named holsters like Kholster,Desantis,Galco...
and i always have a holster for every gun.

Now in saying that, once i get settled into a Main gun and bug system that is the only 2 guns i carry. Then i will buy the high end holsters.
My goal is a 5 gun ccw collection to have a gun for every need and clothing option, and also to find out what i like best to carry and where i carry it.Owning 1 carry gun doesnt give you many options.

I do find black tshirts hide very well, while white sux.
Im also not able to buy purpose made clothing due too cost and far as i know i may not even like that stye of carry. So what i do is modify my clothing and accessories as needed.
Ive made and installed a canted kydex clip on a Galco holster.
Ive made a full kydex IWB holster for my 1911,which could be used to torture terrorist its so uncomfy.I just made my own vest pocket mag holster. And just tonight i added an attachment point for that mag holster in a jacket without a vest pocket which i had to reinforce so it hung naturally.

Concealed carry is not hard, it just takes a little thought and planning.
If thats true then im covered,as i put almost too much thought into it and over plan also. When you have a low income fixed budget you better be creative or go without alot of things.

I carry a full size gun here (9 miles from the Gulf of Mexico) wearing a slightly larger t shirt, shorts and tennis shoes. I chose the Galco SOB holster and a quality belt
