It depends on the time of year as I usually just use whichever CCW that I already happen to have loaded (I change CCW depending on the season). This time of year, it's a .44 Magnum but in warmer months it goes into the safe and is replaced with a .357 Magnum.

Usually a .45acp...

... Dan Wesson CBOB with night sights.

Although sometimes it's a .357, with reduced noise/flash magnums.

I don't like the concept of full magnum loads in a dark, confined space. I suspect I'd find the flash and noise very distracting, and I've done enough damage to my ears over a couple decades of exposure to turbine engines.

The .45acp is relatively quiet, as SD calibers go, and doesn't produce that much flash and flame.

I carry 9mm at work and concealed so I might as well have one as my night stand gun too. It's a Beretta 92A1 with TLR-1 mounted. :)

My night time gun used to be a .45ACP 1911 but I switched it out for a .40 S&W. While I prefer the .45, I decided that my Glock was a better "I just woke up what was that noise gun."

Same thing I carry, 9mm all the way around. By the bed, 15 rounds of 124g JHP in a Beretta 92FS. Probably going to switch to a Cougar once I get some time put behind it.

I agree and I choose .44 Spl (currently from a 629) which isn't available on the poll.

Usually a S&W model 15 loaded with 158 grain SWCHP's. Sometimes a CZ-82 with Silver Bear JHP's (9mm Mak). In either case the gun is loaded and ready to go, but it's in a holster -- so I have to actually wake up to shoot it

.45

I keep a .45 Taurus PT 145 with tac light. and a 12 ga next to the bed.
Wife has a Bond Derringer in .357 and a Bersa .380 as a back up.

My daughter doesn't have anything...yet (20 months old)

bedside

I have a Rock Island Armory 1911A1 CSP (my normal carry gun) with Federal 185 gr HI-Shok JHP, my wife has a Lady Smith 60 with .38 Glaser Silver +P we also have a Benelli M-3 with #4 buck at the bottom of the bedstand

Mine varies depending on what I've had to the range recently.

Right now it's a .38 Special.

Other cartridges that have been in there are .357 Mag., 9mm, 9mm Makarov, .45 ACP, and .41 Magnum.

I've got some amazing tactical flashlights in the 900/1200/1600 range that will fry your eyeballs at night when your eyes are used to the dark, a good flashlight sits on the nightstand as well as the Beretta Cheetah .380. Blinding an intruder would be part of my MO. Blinded by the high beam then clicked to a lower setting so my eyes would work better. It has the little pressure sensitive button that can be flashed for a tiny blip of light.

A lot of people don't think about what might be overkill in a bedroom or house without ear protection.

The time of year plays into this for me.
Either the G27 or the Colt combat commander.
The wifes side never changes,Kahr PM9 365.

you didn't offer 12 gauge

19 inch barrel with pistol grip.

#6 birdshot is first to stop them
#4 buckshot is 2nd in line to drop them
#00 buckshot is 3rd in the tube so they won't sue me. :D
