What am I doing wrong......

Cut a circular piece of paper about the same size as your safety/shooting glasses lens and put it over one of your your shooting glasses lenses

It's also often recommended to use frosty Scotch tape for this--it blocks your vision but it doesn't block out much light to the eye. My understanding is that, when light is blocked to one eye, the other eye tends to compensate by dilating, further reducing the range over which the eye can focus. By using frosty tape, both pupils should remain as closed as possible for the ambient light level.

There isn't any need to do this at all, of course, if you determined you are not cross-dominant (right hand shooter, dominant left eye), or vice versa.

There isn't any need to do it even if you are cross dominant.

Agreed. Once again, the lifelong journey of learning to shoot and the enjoyment thereof reminds me so much of my short experience with golf and other beginning golfers. Often bombarded with tips, hints, tricks and techniques, the beginning golfer is easily frustrated by even the most cautious of coaches. It can seem like so much to remember, so much to think about, so many seemingly conflicting 'tips'. Grip and stance come quickly to mind as examples in both games.

I think ideally, and with the exception of safety awareness and practice, good shooting is probably best accomplished when the brain is quiet and the mind and body relaxed. No drooling though.

Just take a class. That will help you more than anything. The instructor will know what you need to work on everyone here is guessing.;)

OP,why don't you post some pictures of your groups?
All's you told, the shots are "to the left" and you have eight hand guns.
For all we know you're getting 5" groups only nine o'clock of dead center.
Should that be the case then Nature is trying to tell you something.Just drift the sights and move on.
There are many here among us who don't have a guru or even a gunsmith and yet can handle a gun and are respectable shots.Paying a talking head so that he
tells you how to shoot should be your choice. And how many guns you own, your
business.

Best dang post on the whole thread. God Bless

I am pretty sure the tone of some of the posts in this thread have pushed this new member to another forum or at least into silence. Nothing like having a moderator/staff drive people away.

Shooting is a very complex task. If you shoot for accuracy and want to get reasonable results, you have to apply all basics and at the same time.

While bits and pieces have been thrown at you in this thread, some important elements for marksmanship were not mentioned.

The Army Marksmanship Training guide is still great for learning the fundamentals and become a proficinet handgunner. Once that skill is mastered you can advance to speed shooting, which is an entirely different discipline but before someone can run, he should learn to walk.

Maybe. He's PM'd me in a positive way. I think everything's cool. Maybe just reflecting. I didn't get the impression he's going to give up shooting or FiringLine because of a little 'language'. I got your point...well-taken. But I think he's okay.

You may want to black the rear sight out or go to a sight system where the rear sights are blacked out. It makes me focus on the front sight as my eyes get older.

The OP was last on the board at 0543 PDT this morning. Maybe he didn't have anything to say.

He has something to say but he is saying it via PMs as a result of this thread. He got lots of good advice but at the same time got some unproductive responses that could be easily taken as well "snarky".

When you look and see a new member who has 6 posts and has been on the board for a month maybe some tact would have helped the OP more than anything else.

Cross-dominant or not, if one eye is looking at the target and the other eye is looking at the sights, there's gonna be trouble, and trouble of the type described by the OP.
