User Names. What does yours mean?

My name is Mike, I live in Virginia. Actually, I was named after the archangel, Michael, who is reportedly good with a sword (probably because St. JMB hadn't invented the auto-loading pistol yet).

My names means "5,100lbs of muzzle energy".... I almost went for "Voltaire", the genial and irreverent XVIIIth-C.French philosopher, but I opted for the old, classic British cartridge.

Well... I suppose my handle speaks for it's self. :)

But elsewhere I can be found at "isporto"; a sort of take-off on the I Ching phraseology using the derogatory term for a sport-climber.

I always sign with a tilda (~) whichever handle i'm using.

i ghost more often than not but have been around for a while...

i take pride in the fact that i always find the easiest/fastest/least expensive way to do things.

o is the first initial of my last name.

Golgo-13 is a manga character who has also been seen in a couple of anime, a couple of very bad live action movies, and a couple of games for the old NES. He's "The Man with the Custom M-16." Basically, he's a hitman. I chose to use the name because I like ARs and anime.

Long Path = the literal translation of the name of the rifle that I was most involved with when I first joined TFL: my Remington 700 Sendero, in .300 Win Mag.

.73 MOA groups, right out of the box. (before the trigger job and before I started playing with loads.)

Still one of my favorite rifles, capable of throwing a 180g Sierra GameKing BTSP at 3120 fps, with more energy at 200 yards than a .30-06 has at the muzzle, and able to keep 5 shots under 1.75" at that range. Quite a rifle, considering the only thing I've done to it is a $30 trigger job and put a $150 Simmons scope on it. Hold dead on out to 350 yds.

Reminiscent of two of my favorite things, tanks and German language.

Depending on who you ask, German for either Tank Commander or Tank Driver. Done both. Then I went and got married...... :D

I have perfectly sound Celtic first and last names. Consequently not a whole bunch of people in Texas can pronounce either one. :D "Lawdog" is Western slang for a Peace Officer, so when people needed me, they'd call up the Sheriff's Office and ask for "that red-headed lawdog."

The name stuck. :D

My User name is what I've been going by for over 30 years. It is an abbreviation of my last name (which few people pronounce correctly).

Having been called Schmit for 30+ years I get confused when people call me by my first name. My Oldest daughter didn't even know my first name until she was 8 years old. My wife calls me Schmit and I'm always introduced as such. Even in the Corps I was Gunny Schmit to everyone. :D

Dear Friends,

John Park was Captain of the minutemen at Lexington. They did not beat the British, but they did make them stop and deploy, providing the militia at Concord the hours needed to get ready. Can you imagine standing with your 80 irregulars accross the path of 700 British, all in tight formation, bright red uniform, reputation as invincible!?! I hope that if TSHTF during my lifetime, I have the courage to do the same.

I originally registered as "Captain John Park," but couldn't remember my password, so had to re-register as "Cpt. John Park."

On other boards, I have gone by "Dadof3Girls," but as the number keeps going up, I had to pick something else! :)

Signature is from my favorite book of the Bible. Whether or not you are a Christian, the story of Nehemiah is inspiring for today.

Republic, thanks for the Japanese info. Maybe I need to call her ookii inu.

As for your explanation of your screen name, however: HUH? The explanation means less to me than the name. I'm assuming it's military thing? Please translate for us civis. Thanks.

trust neither men nor women nor beasts. in steel you can trust.
but with the use of steel comes a riddle. steel is not strong. flesh is stronger.
what is steel compared to the hand that wields it?

in steel you can trust but you must learn its discipline. you are the weapon, not the gun or knife. that is the riddleofsteel

"When i die i will have to go before Crom. He will ask me the riddle of steel. If i don't know it he will cast me out of Volhalla. That is Crom, strong in his mountain." Conan the Barbarian

Well, you dangled it out there, Schmit. The abbreviation sounds like 'shmeet'. :D
