"Truck Gun"

I was thinking earlier about how I used to read people's posts about keeping a gun in a truck or in a glove compartment of their car. I then realized that well heck, that gives me a good reason to get another gun. So I can put it in my car!

Anyways what are some of YOUR truck, car, van, or winnebago guns?

I saw a ruger p89 at my gun shop for 350$. I figure that would work well and would be fun to shoot.

Depends on where I am, city or rural area. City I have a Hi-Point 9mm. Rural area I use a Kel-Tec Sub-2000. These are guns that I really neglect as far as their finish is concerned but do shoot and reliably maintain.

It depends.. the only time I have one in the truck is if im in it and if I dont have one on my person and Im just riding around fishing or what not then I have a commanche .45 .4-10 or a hi-point 9mm carbine. Both prove to be fun to shoot and are good in case I run across one of my buddies that want to do some plinking. Plus neither of them cost to much so if they get bumped around or dinged up im not to concerned.

"...saw a Ruger p89..." It fit your hand? Nothing else is as important.
You need to know the legalities of keeping a firearm, of any kind, in your vehicle too. Don't even think about anything but a SS or polymer pistol.

My truck gun is a S&W 686. I also have a revolver Model 60 in my jeep. If I am out just messing around in the hills, I don't want my "messing around gun" to be an auto. Spend to much time chasing brass. And, in .357 mag caliber, the revolvers are good self defense guns.

Depends. Typically either a High Power or 1911 in the center consul along with a Walther P22 (in a small pack with survival gear). And, my CCW, either an SP101, Kimber Compact or a Beretta Jetfire. During hunting season, I often have a 6" S&W Model 19 357 in a hunting bag that rides in my truck. If traveling, I often have my M1 Carbine or AR.

Truck gun..........

I keep an old Norinco SKS with a 20 round mag in it as my main truck gun. I always have my carry piece on me, a 45 Auto, and I keep a couple boxes of spare ammo in the vehicle also.
The SKS is a short Para model that I got a few years back for $125, so I wouldn't be devastated if it got lost.
I do keep it out of sight and under a blanket in the back seat. ya can't tell it there!!!

Shooter 973 said as a truck gun $125 " Para Norinco SKS". Those things are selling for over $450 in my area and are impossible to find.

ps I would look at the Rossi .38spl or a cheap shotgun.

What is your "truck gun" for.

Shooters:
My truck gun is for impromtu hunting. So it is a Rossi with interchangeable 22 lr or 410 barrels.

Live well, be safe.

impromptu hunting

In vermont that would be called poaching (not saying you are) however if I were to be stopped where I live with anything that could be considered a deer gun I would be accused of poaching during deer season.

I personally always carry at least one piece that piece goes into my side saddle while driving and then into its holster while I leave vehicle. I would hate to see some bastard jack my car and leave with a firearm they may not know was there.

Winchester carbine and Ruger 45 as often as anything else. Usually a few other things rattling around in the back also.

Browning Buckmark Target Rifle (.22lr) for plinking and/or in case I run across a slew of rabbits or fox or some other little critter.

Marlin 1895STP (.45/70) for if I ever run across an elephant assaulting a Kodiak Brown Bear.

Many of the guns recovered off gangs, etc are stolen. I don't believe in leaving a gun in a vehicle unless it is in some sort of strong box.
