6. knight wolverine .50 (150gr powder 210gr .44x.50 sabot) or the 348gr powderbelt. awsome power from a muzzleloader. and cheaper than handloading a .45-70.

.223/5.56 -- obvious reasons (many mentioned above)

7.62x54R -- as powerful as .30-06, accurate, and ammo is cheap and abundant!

Any 6.5mm -- Can you say accurate?

.50 Beowulf -- Turns that pea-shooter into a BEAST

.50 BMG -- for when you absolutely, positively, have to kill something in the next county :)

These are my fistfull:
22LR
.222
.22-250
30/06
45/70
Every one has it's purpose and utility in my battery from pipsqueak to boomer. If 40 grains of lead at 1200 fps. won't do it, that 405 grainer at 1800 will.

22WMR when a 22lr just aint enough 22lr When a pellet gun just aint enough 223 cause I Love my Toys .35 Remmington, I'll end the Swine Flue. .270 We dont need a 30-06 for deer:D

.22LR...Just plain fun!
.22-250...Fave varm/predator round.
.30-30...More for the lever action itself. Love to use this while hunting in timber.
.270 Win...Fave all around deer hunting caliber.
7mm Rem Mag...When you got to reach out and touch something.

30-06, need i say more?
7.92MM AKA 8mm Mauser - classic great round
7.62X54r Good 30 cal round, and the cheapest big round you can find
.223 inexpensive, Accurate, fun round

No Particular order

.300 Weatherby Magnum
.218 Bee/22-250 Rem (tie)
30-06 (and any of the cartridges derived from this case)
30-30
.22 LR

(this really should be a top 10, top 5 is too limited)

In order of increasing diameter:

.22lr Good fun plinking, potting rabbits, grouse, etc.

3006 For most of the reasons already posted and I have harvested game and shot it for a long time.

338wm Little more punch for bigger critters and those that bite back. Extremely accurate.

416 Rigby For anything else...

5) 30-06, very popular for hunting, got us through ww2

4) .308/7.62x51, great for everything, nato standard proven performance

3) 8x57 mauser, have you ever shot one?

2) .338 lapua, designed to arrive at 1000meters with enough power left to go through 5 layers of body armor

1) 7.62x39. used by the ak which has been the most influential gun in modern history. many a rebel/freedom fighter use it and in some parts of the world owning an ak is a sign of manhood.
