Time to buy? (AR, AK,etc. and hi cap mags)

Unless you get the tail end of a hole in the wall gun store's supply who still has ARs for the same price that he had them for 2 weeks ago... no. This will pass. An AWB will not pass anytime soon because of the makeup of the House of Representative (IMO). I could be wrong on this, but I think many will likely agree if they think about it. Hi-cap mags (over 10) are a different story. I would probably snatch some up if you can for cheap. I don't think they will be banned either, but it's more likely than an all-out AWB.

It will pass more quickly with an Executive order by the Pres. Did you see that little speech that BO made? It's almost a clear indication that he will re-introduce the AWB.

It remains to be seen of course, but if he does enact it by EO he will most likely do it in January. Right now they are gathering their sticks to throw into a gigantic bonfire....

Intersting how some of the noble folk of the gun world are gouging. The armed society is one of avarice and greed?
I was griping about that today to a couple of my customers. One of our competitors is just ludicrous on his prices, and from what I've seen online, the gun show in our area this weekend is going to be a shark pool.

One of the guys I was talking to said, "hey, it's not gouging, that's the free market, dude!"

"OK. That magazine you've got there? What if I doubled the price on it right now?"

"Dude, that's total [rage squeal]!"

So, it's the free market until someone doesn't like its implications for them. Then it's gouging.

Black Sheep, you're right. Buying an AR-15 now is a very poor choice. Selection is dreadful and prices are worse.

All these people whining about prices and gouging is funny, as I'm sure 99% of you were so eager to defend Mitt Romney a few weeks ago for buying companies low and selling their parts high for a profit.

Now is the time to be selling whatever excess weapons or magazines you have. People are in a feeding frenzy and will pay obscene prices.

Earlier this week I bought 9 new Evil Black Rifles at "normal" prices and they're going for 50-80% over what I paid for them. Same thing with mags. I stocked up on Surefire 60-rounders and Glock 33rders and they're going for at least twice what I paid for them.

Right now I'd say paying more than a hundred or so dollars over retail is dumb (unless you're buying my stash of EBRs, then it's an "investment!"), but there's nothing wrong with cashing in on this bonanza. I know I'm sure going to.

My question isn't should I jump on board the buying train...but trying to determine what's still at good prices out there. Also...trying to get ahead of the curve and determine what are the smart guns to own in the future. (A future with or with an AWB/hi-cap ban)

If u buy now you'll be paying $500-1000 dollars over what u normally would. AKs are nonexistent. Local list price for one is $1200-1500 dollars now in the Atlanta market.
