Time to buy? (AR, AK,etc. and hi cap mags)

In such tough economic times it's pretty ridiculous gun control is even an issue right now, and it's utterly disgusting that these close minded politicians, people in the media, and house moms, are using this tragedy as an excuse to push their agenda on gun control. On that note, banning "assault weapons", as the media calls them, will leave thousands upon thousands jobless, from the employees at the gun manufacturers themselves, to custom gun builders and gunsmiths, to gun shop owners who will see a major decline in business.

By the way if you want a good laugh go to the Huffington Post website and read all the comments, especially the house mom's calling for "bans on all semi-automatic weapons!".

"bans on all semi-automatic weapons!"

Except for police and military -Bad language - GEM

I mean nothing against LEOs in the above, but it really is ridiculous that those are the only classes of people many think are entitled to have modern firearms

well i have been looking for a good ak47, i think i might just have to use this as an excuse to go get me one

theres a gun show this weekend im almost scared to go to, not only because of the massive mob of people that is going to be there but just think of the already high gun show prices  , hopefully i can find a good deal on a 75 rnd drum mag, other then that i have all the mags i really need.

2 stores today; one selling AR mags for $62 (never going there again). Other place was out of AR mags, but was selling Tapco AK mags for $12! I'd be willing to trade my AR in for an AK now, if I could find one, just to get some mags.

Does anyone care to guess how long they think Brownells will be on backorder for pmags?

I'm thinking of going the other way...

I bought a FN Five-seveN last year for $750.00. They are selling on Gunbroker for $1,700.00 today. I may sell mine and buy a reloading system.

I am on the look out for a S&W M&P Sport, but I am unable to find them anywhere; even on the web.

Do you believe their will be a bigger supple of ARs in the coming months?

I would expect companies to be working overtime to build as much as they can while the demand is high and they are still legal. However, I cannot imagine anyone will be expanding capacity since they have no idea what the future may hold.

Checking the web companys most are sold out of high caps, or are charging an outragious price like ctd, stopped dealing with them!

It may be awhile. The industry made it through the re-election, and they had enough supply to last through a good holiday season.

Then the Sandy Hook shooting happened. Nobody could have expected that. Expect it to be late January before anyone can accurately predict supply.

I was lucky to score two SR9 17 round magazines from Brownell's, they sold out within two hours. Try finding 17 round mags for the SR9 right now, its almost impossible.

Unless you get the tail end of a hole in the wall gun store's supply who still has ARs for the same price that he had them for 2 weeks ago... no. This will pass. An AWB will not pass anytime soon because of the makeup of the House of Representative (IMO). I could be wrong on this, but I think many will likely agree if they think about it. Hi-cap mags (over 10) are a different story. I would probably snatch some up if you can for cheap. I don't think they will be banned either, but it's more likely than an all-out AWB.

I try to buy ar and ak mags in lots of 100. So I have plenty of both. I was just thinking a few weeks ago about getting some M1A mags and now they are gone. Oh well I can always trade for em.

Next year at this time the supply should be back to normal. Manufacturers are working 24/7 making them and will stock pile a bunch in case. Once we are out of the shadow of this tragedy and people move on to other issues we will be fine.

A buddy of mine called me up from a LGS asking about a price on a M&P Sport that he was looking at. I did confirm it was the basic sport model no frills or thrills or optics, they wanted $1,039 plus tax.

They told him it was "optics ready", love how they act like that's something to talk about.

Excuse me - Optics Ready is a Smith and Wesson model designation for various flat tops with rails ready for optics.

I thought the Sport had a carry handle and that price is way to high.

Intersting how some of the noble folk of the gun world are gouging. The armed society is one of avarice and greed?
