Supplies seem to be back to somewhat of a normal level. Maybe not entirely normal, but somewhat normal.

Walmart has ammo again, especially at my local walmart. And Academy has plenty of .223.

Also, local gunstores have primers.

I can easily find these items now.

Good luck in all your shooting and reloading.

I love this hobby!

Went to Cabela's today looking for ammo and things are certainly NOT back to normal there ...No .22lr, no .22mag, no .45ACP. they did have some 9mm JHP with aluminum cases, $13.99 for 50! I passed, no experience with aluminum cases ...

However, unlike my last visit a few months ago, they had a TON of ARs, S&W, Bushmaster, etc. on racks on the floor, from $700 to $1,000 or so ... also, their handgun cases were all full; last time, they were less than half full, and mostly with not-so-popular items ...

Powder valley has some .22 and .30 Sierra bullets in stock. Ordered Sierra 2200 and 1390 today. 24 working days delivery. Bought some eley tenex target from midway.

Read an article this week about .22LR production, about 38 rounds per US gun owner per year, so it's not difficult to fathom how a shortage could develop.

I was at my local Cabela's which is located in Hoffman Estates which is also in crook county, IL and they had the best quantity of supplies I've seen in awhile. They had large rifle, large rifle magnum, small pistol, and small pistol magnum primers in some cases from multiple manufacturers. A good selection of Hodgdon and IMR powders for use in many different cartridges, and even a good selection of bullets from Nosler, Sierra, Hornady, Berger, and Barnes but unfortunately not the .308 125 gr Nosler ballistic tips that I need for my 300 Blackout loads. I guess I'll have to work up loads using some of the 1000 147 gr pulldown bullets I picked up for a good price off of gunbroker.
That Cabela's has been my go-to store as far as .22LR is concerned. I have had great luck there finding the 525-round boxes of Remington ($22/box IIRC)as well as other brands on occasion (Federal, Winchester). Had to resist the urge to buy another box last time I was there as I already have over 2000 rounds stockpiled, which should last me nearly a year though some of you probably go through that in a week. :p

They don't seem to have a set time for stocking them, I've seen them appear an hour before closing as well as in the morning. I've had much less success at the Cabela's in Hammond IN (they're about the same distance from me, but at Hammond I can avoid tolls and fill up on cheap gas lol), they never seem to have the large boxes and the best I've done there is the 100 round boxes of CCI. However the Hammond store is very consistent as to when they stock the shelves, get there right when they open. There's usually a small line these days. Found Winchester small and large/magnum pistol primers there a few weeks ago. Limit is 2 boxes total per day though.

i'll just sit back and wait--i've been buying 22lr
for a long time a brick here a brick there and
slowly and not in a panic
the last panic that i got interested in was the y2k shtick
a guy was at the swap meet a month later to sell his un- needed
22lr--- got 18 thousand rounds for 70 bucks still have some of that left
hope i can score on this panic too.:D
i reload for all my others

Drove through Wabash, Indiana today and stopped at a few gun stores.

Bass & Buck had no shortage of 1000rd cases of 7.62x39 Wolf military classic for $400, 1000rd cases of .308 Prvi Partizan for $800, and 500rd cases of 5.56, (can't remember how much). None of which were deals by any stretch of the imagination but they easily had twenty or more cases of each.

Just Hunt had cases of every kind of primers for $200. I asked the guy how he had so many and he said he ordered 200,000 primers right before December.

A store called Big R had .308 American Eagle 20rd boxes for $20.

Dunham's had 20rd boxes of .223.

None really had any pistol ammo to speak of.

I was at Sportsmans warehouse a couple hours ago they didnt have much in the means of powder, but said they have shipment they will have put out in the morning, i only really asked about imr 4895-4060, varget, rl 15, h4895. I be back up there in the morning:D going to pick up 1lbs of 3 different makers 4 if they have it. They are still limiting people to 1lbs. each brand.

THe guy there did say that cabellas should be open on the 15th and they should have everything in stock, we will see.

sportsman bo-de-ga~failed or fibbed, i was up there 84/i25 thornton CO. i was there when the doors opened and they only had shotty powder for reloading. im a little annoyed how hard is it to verify what came in and relay that information.

So i just went to dad's and got some varget and 4064.

i guess ill just see whats at cabellas when it opens.

Went by an Academy looking for running shoes. Lots of handguns of all type and rifles - even EBRs. Plenty of 223, 40, 45 ACP and 22 LR. A little Monarch 9mm.

Thus, the 4:00 AM morning patrol (that sits on the stuff like Smaug or Scrooge McDuck) needs to chill out. :D

So is $.30/round the new price for 9mm? Seems like it has been that way online for awhile.

Still seems pretty hard to get. Might as well shoot .40 for the same price.

steel cased 9mm, like monarch and tullamo, is generally just under 10 bucks a box here in atlanta. walmart and academy sports are the best options. brass cased is going for about 15 a box at wally world.

Must be my lucky day

Checked Natchez and they have Federal Auto Match .22LR in stock for $19 a box + shipping. $28 a box total, but hey, I'll take it. I haven't seen it in FOREVER.

I miss the days of nice big fat boxes of Federal 550's 22lr at Wallmart. Anyone seen those available anywhere?

I see them with fair regularity, but I generally stop at several places several times a week on my way to and from work. I can almost guarantee that If you see as many as 12 550 round boxes of 22lr at Wal-Mart at 6:00 am, they'll likely all be gone by 6:00pm, seen it many times.

Natchez doesn't have any in stock, but now lists the price as $38 for 525 rounds, which is 25% more per round than Auto Match??? Doesn't make any sense.

At Cabela's in Kansas City today they had a good selection of .223 ammo. Lots of PMC for $8.99 per box, American Eagle for $9.99 and some Federal white box and others at higher prices.

Also had a fair selection of 45 acp. Speer Lawmen for $24.99 plus a couple of other brands, cant recall what they were.

No 9mm or 357 magnum sadly.

Still, nice to see some calibers are back on the shelf.
