In the past week I got this ammuniiton:

At Dick's Sporting goods I got 100 rounds (5 x 20 boxes) of PMC bronze .223 out the door for less than $50 and 100 rounds of CCI minimags 22lr for $9 with coupon. At Wallyworld I picked up 100 rounds of Winchester WB 9mm for $24.47 and 50 rounds of 38spl Remington UMC for $20.57. The 38spl was a little more expensive than last year but not horrible. It seem like things are calming down a bit as the ammo at Dicks was there for 2 days before gone.

^^^ You're lucky, Bob. The Dick's in my area limit ammo purchases to 2 boxes per purchase per day. The bulk ammo boxes, they limit one.

I should clarify. The Dick's I was in has a 3 box limit on <50 count boxes of ammo and 1 box limit on boxes of 100 or more. Day one I wandered in and lo and behold there was probably 100 boxes of the PMC .223 and similar amount of the CCI 22lr. I have quite a bit of 22lr so I only picked up 2 boxes of the .223 @ $9.99 each. The receipt you get from Dick's has a survey you fill out which then gives you a coupon for $10 off purchases of $50 or more.
I knew I was going back into town the next day so I took the coupon in and to my surprise there was still about 10 boxes of the PMC .223 and 2 boxes of the CCI Minimags. I grabbed 3 boxes .223 and 1 box of the .22lr. To get it up to $50 I bought a box of 20ga #8 shotshells and a small bottle of Hoppes lubricating oil. That purchase out the door with with sales tax was just shy of $43. The 2 box .223 the day before was $20.99 out the door so added together I paid $64 for 100 rds of .223, 100 rds of .22lr, 25 rds of 20ga and a bottle of oil. I did get lucky but point is that ammo sat on the shelf for at least 2 days.

Academy had lots of 223 and 308. 32 and 44s.

They said they get lots of 9 and 22 but the morning hoarders buy it out.

Bass Pro was totally out. I don't go there for ammo but was looking at camping stuff and wandered over.

Saw the usual guys full of Bullpoop explaining handguns to their girl friends. :D

Where is everything?

People are hoarding. A guy in the local classifieds has posted he has 50 bricks of 525 LR ammo for sale! Plus other ammo! He does NOT have a store. He is selling it to make a profit. I'll shoot my pellet gun or buy a slingshot before I'll pay his prices. Maybe a nice crossbow will be my next purchase if ammo stays hard to get at reasonable prices!

At local gun show yesterday was a vendor's table covered in what was obviously WalMart-origin ammo, all at blue sky prices. Wasn't getting any takers in the two hours I was there.

Ditto! Perhaps this forum would consider a temporary "archery forum" where people can go to talk arrows, brag about boycotting ammo, and dis on the Walmart Ammo Buzzards who won't know what hit them when internet ammo suppliers are well stocked again.:D

DFW Report...

My jaw just about hit the floor when I walked into the sporting goods department at the Walmart at the NW corner of Midway and LBJ in Farmers Branch this morning.

When I left at 8:15am, they had:

27(!) 525rd bulks packs of Remington Golden Bullet .22LR 36gr HP (I counted 'em!) :D
38+/- 50rd boxes of Prvi Partizan 380 ACP 95gr FMJ
15+/- 50rd boxes of Prvi Partizan 9mm Luger 115gr FMJ
20 50rd boxes of Winchester 380 ACP 95gr FMJ

This Walmart is apparently NOT limiting .22LR bulk pack purchases to 1/day like some other stores. They are applying the same 3/day limit that they're applying to all the other ammo.

Happy shopping.

Update on my update...

When I went to the FB Walmart yesterday, they had:
27(!) 525rd bulks packs of Remington Golden Bullet .22LR 36gr HP (I counted 'em!)
38+/- 50rd boxes of Prvi Partizan 380 ACP 95gr FMJ
15+/- 50rd boxes of Prvi Partizan 9mm Luger 115gr FMJ
20 50rd boxes of Winchester 380 ACP 95gr FMJ
Just for giggles, I went back this morning to see what was left.

525rd bulk packs of .22LR Golden Bullets: Gone
50rd boxes of Prvi Partizan 9mm Luger 115gr FMJ: Gone

Here's where it gets interesting:

50rd boxes of Prvi Partizan 380 ACP 95gr FMJ: About 20 left
50rd boxes of Winchester 380 ACP 95gr FMJ: About 15 left

The lady who works the counter assured me that the .380 was still there from yesterday and was not another shipment. ALSO, they had received 10 50rd boxes of Federal 9mm Luger 115gr FMJ that morning, of which 7 boxes were left- well, then it became 6 boxes, because I bought one. :D

Is that a light I see at the end of the tunnel?

It either getting better or I am getting lucky. Stopped by Dick's yesterday and they had dozens and dozens 40 count boxes of American Eagle 22LR for $2.99 per box and several boxes of Hornady Critical Defense ammo in 38spl and 9mm for 24.99 a box. There was a 3 box limit so I grabbed one box each of 9mm, 38spl and 22LR. That put me over the $50 needed to cash in my $10 coupon so I was out the door tax included for $45.

Lots of primers and powder

Anyone near Lawrenceville, GA will want to pay a visit to Bullseye. I was there this afternoon and they had a good supply of primers, small and large pistol, standard and magnum as well as small and large rifle. brands included Winchester, CCI, Remington, Federal, and Tula-and a broad selection of powders-Alliant, Hodgdon, IMR, and Winchester...several selections from each manufacturer.

I'm currently with my family up in northern Minnesota and ammo still seems to be scarce. Checked out the local Walmart and they only had 2 boxes of match grade 22 ammo.

Here in Southeast Alaska stuff is still scarce. Primers are limited to 1 per person per day. Thankfully not too many people reload so there are still a couple 100ct packs on the shelf. .22 is gone and they are unsure when more will arrive. Even the spendy stuff like CCI Stingers are gone. .17 HMR is still around. .223 is getting easier to find, and 9mm is creeping back. I saw a handful of 30 round Pmags as well. One store does have a few boxes of .22 for $12 a pack of 50. Thankfully most people up here are fairly well prepared so we haven't suffered too much, we've just had to cut back a little on our shooting habits.

Bills Outpost in Maryville TN has two large boxes slap full of PMags and Troy Battle mags, all kinds of ARs from $800 to $2400, 4 M1As of different flavors, a PTR91, a slew of AKs in .223, 5.45, and 7.62, a VEPR in x54R, and plenty of PMC at $8 a box at a 5 box limit. They have a ton of 7.62x39 at <$8/box that's been sitting there for at least 2 months. Check it out if you're in the area.

Columbus OH - had Win LPP, Win 209, Win LR as well as a few powders.

They also had some supply of bullets, including Berry's.
