The Walmart Ammo thread

I haven't been to walmart in about 3-4 weeks. Today, nothing to do, I decide to go to walmart and get an air filter for the car. I swing by the gun counter, and DAMN!!! A lot of ammo. Not necessarily a lot of each, but pretty much some of everything. There was 25acp, 32acp, 380acp, 9mm, 38spl, 357mag, 40sw, 44mag, 45acp. And in all these were combinations of regular 50 rounds packs and 100 round value packs. Then, there were plenty of 550 round Federal value pack 22LR copper hollow points. Plus, Stingers, HV, Mini-mags, Maxi-mags. Also, some of pretty much all the different rifle rounds. And they were all at the NORMAL WALMART PRICES. 22LR value pack $15.96.

Anyway; I don't need a lot of ammo. I have plenty. But I bought a couple 550 round 22LR value packs. Can never have enough 22's. Availability definitely seems better. And FWIW; I was down at Sportsman's Warehouse last weekend, and it too seemed to be getting more. Either more is being produced (I don't buy that); or most of the people buying and hording and gotten what they want and are slowing down. (I buy that. Money isn't endless).

I was in the WallyWorld on Richmond Rd. this morning (Lexington, Ky). As usual, very little ammo. A few boxes of rifle ammo, 2 boxes of Win .45 ACP jhp's, and a WWB of .40 hard ball. I haven't seen any .22lr bulk packs in over a year. I have no idea why some areas of the country have ammo and some don't. Any idea's why?

The wallyworld here in Apopka, Fl is great.
I've never had a problem with any of the Sporting Goods sales reps.
One sales rep in particular is nothing less then a walking firearms encyclopedia.

Ammo in 9mm,.40, .223 and .45 is back on the shelf in bulk,
having said that .380 is nowhere to be found but at
a local gun shop for an arm and a leg.

Blue Grass, if you're ever heading up I-75 in northern KY, stop at the Wal-Mart just off the Dry Ridge exit. We've had lots of Federal .22 bulk packs lately.

Super Walmart in Grand Junction, CO was out of handgun ammo on Saturday. However, Sportsman's Warehouse down the street had bulgin shelves of almost any type of rifle ammo, and hundreds of boxes of .40 S&W in almost all brands.

relationship building pays off

they held five, 100rnd boxes of 9mm WWB for me this morning till I could get to the store 15 minutes later!

Did you leave one box for the next guy? Tell me you did!

Still no ammo @ Wal-Mart

I still cannot find any 9mm ammo at Wal-Mart of any type. None. They never have it. I live in Northern Illinois. Any Wal-Marts around here have 9MM??? Southern Wisconsin even??? HELP! I cannot afford to shoot 40.00 boxes of ammo... and my kids are starting to want to shoot.

All I want is 2 WWB 100 round boxes and I (and my sons) will be happy as a clam!

I live in North Central Indiana, and my Walmart usually has 9mm ammo. $12 a box for Remington 115 grain FMJ. Seems to be Sunday night is the magic ticket.

Ammo at Wal-Mart.

I like most don’t enjoy shopping at Wal-Mart, but as a NON P/C kinda guy who likes to save money whenever I can; I shop at Wal-Mart from time to time. After years of shopping at Wal-Mart and other big box stores, I have finally learned that the only way to shop at any of these stores without going “postal” is to greatly lower my expectations and realize that at best I will leave the store with the products I came for and at enough savings to make the aggravation worth it.

I was in two (2) different Wal-Marts yesterday, both stores ammo supplies were very limited in both variety and quantity. One had 600 – 800 rounds S&W 40 cal. Winchester, 180 Gr. RN at $16.00 a box. The only 38 Special was one box of Federal (?) 158 Gr. LRN at $30.00 + so I guess we will still have to deal with shortages and higher prices for sometime to come.

Safe shooting all.

I'm lucky as the sales people at my Walmart the guys are hunters and very knowledgeable. They seem to be getting more ammo in lately but it's still slim Pickens especially on pistol ammo. They did get a fairly good supply of rifle ammo in standard calibers like 270 Win, 30-06, 308, 7mm Mag, 300 Win Magi and even 7mm 08 right before Deer season.

N. Ill Wal Mart

Gott Mit Uns ...

The Gurnee Wal Mart (Rt 132-Grand Ave. and Hunt Club Rd) had 9mm the last two times I was up there. No 100 rd WWB, but 50 rd boxes of Federal 115gr FMJ were the regular $9.97 each.... That was mid last week....

What the store receives seems to depend on how awake the department manager seems to be. One regular Walmart here in central Ohio rarely has anybody with the first clue about handgun ammo, and that store seldom has ammo that makes a bit of sense for this area. (Lots of 30-06, 30-30, 7mm Mag etc. in a state that is shotgun only for deer.....go figure) The other nearby store is a super Wal-Mart with a really knowledgeable department head that is a shooter and gun collector. If he's around your chances are much better.

The walmart closest to me had 9mm last weekend for only the second time in a full year (and the previous time was one box of WWB hollowpoints).

Yay.

I saw a box of WWB JHP in .45 acp about a week ago but passed at $28 for a box of 50. If I'm going to shoot JHP in .45, it's going to be a premium bullet. Then, yesterday, I happened to see they had some boxes of 100 rounds of WWB in FMJ in .45 acp for $32.80 a box. I got two boxes and left a box. I had recently purchased some .45 online.

Anyway, this is was the first .45 acp ammo I've seen in about a year at the Walmart where I usually shop. Very little other pistol ammo, though they do seem to usually have .40 SW.

southern IN and nearby KY

Around here there is a steady supply of 40 .357 sig and 25. 9mm 38 and 357 mag and 45 is a crap shoot. I lucked into a wwb value pack of 38 target for 32 and a box of federal 45 for 15. Now Dicks sporting goods had an abundance of 9mm in both cci blazer and remington. I'm talking dozens of cases of remington 9mm for 12 per box when buying a case. Still pretty nill on 380 although I got 2 boxes of remington in 380 about 5 wks ago.
