The Walmart Ammo thread

It does seem to be getting better. I've been seeing several cases worth of 100rd .223 ammo, .40, 9mm, occasionally .45 or .357. The .22 situation is much better than it was, I've seen Federal, Remington, and Winchester bulk packs in the last couple weeks. Bought some of each too. :) I now have enough of a store I can go by to my usual shoot, replace, shoot, instead of hunting high and low for weeks before finding enough to go shooting. :(

I dunno why, but the .40 s&w Federal's have been on my local WW shelves for over a month now. With at least 25+ boxes in the cabinet everytime I've been in there lately.

Still not much luck on the 9mm or others. However .45 acp has been there quite a bit lately also.

Two Walmarts near me and they have had random stocks of most handgun ammo but I haven't seen any .44, .357, or .44 for months. They have had .40 everytime I've gone in but never full shelfs. Our local gunshop/range has fully stocked up but their ammo is pricey.

Found a couple boxes pf .38 MC ammo at our local WM tonight. The clerk who opened the case said it's the first she's seen in quite a while. There were plenty of gaps in the rest of the calibers - no .357 or .45 for instance, but plenty of .22s.

We're chock full of 40s&w, 45ACP, 44mag, 357sig:rolleyes:, and 9mm for 12.47!!! I even scored a box of Remington UMC .380 the day I bought my Ruger LCP!! PLENTY of ammo coming in all around central and south FL. The drought is almost over, I think.

Update to my most recent post in here

9mm/.40/.45 are all A-OK, but now .22lr (which has NEVER been a concern) was looking kinda low

last year, Santa gave me money with which I got my first pistol, a Glock 21SF

this yr, I was hoping Santa would help fund a .22 pistol for plinking so the wife would be willing to shoot more than a mag before she calls it quits

always a day late and a dollar short on this stuff, lol

MidwayUSA has Federal Champion 510 (22LR solid nose which my semi-autos prefer!) for $19.xx for the 500 packs.

22LR certainly seems more readily available the last few times I've looked. And when you do see it, if you buy 10 'packs' of it, you'll be solid for a while as you wait for everything else.

9mm is showing back up here and there, but seems stuck at the $14-$15 per 50 pricing level (other than Walmart that is).

45 ACP was a total ghost and then I found 250rd packs at Dick's Sporting goods... going for $100, though.

6.8 SPC for my rifle and everytype of shotshell have remained widely available everytime I've looked. (Try Palmetto Armory (online) for 6.8).

None around me in central Alabama.

Drove from Mi to Al yesterday and called a bunch of walmarts that were real close to the highway. Scored six 100 round value pack jhp 45 acp for a little under $30 each. Also found alot of the value pack fmj 9mm, bought ten or so and left alot on the shelves.

Still there were alot of walmarts that had no 9mm or 45, and no walmart with any 380 on my path.

Mine's been hit or miss still. I was there around 6PM on Wednesday, and they had 8 boxes of 9mm WWB value packs. I tried to buy one, but there was nobody in sporting goods, so I went to the lady in electronics to have someone paged. She came back to sporting goods a few minutes later and told me that there was nobody available to sell me the ammo. I have no clue why they couldn't do it, maybe she didn't know who had the key. Of course I went back there tonight, and they were completely out.:mad::mad:

role your own

Folks, y'all need to start reloading. Spend your hard earned bucks on reloading gear, and components at your local, real gun shop, or go find one where you can. On line components are an option too.

I only deal w/ factory ammo for .22lr, and turkey loads, as I'm not a shotgun guy otherwise.

Wallyworld comes into an area, undersells every body and the "little man" goes under again. Alan Jackson had it right w/ his song a few years back.
I heard a Wal-Mart ad the other day plugging a current poli-social issue.

Reload, and buy your factory ammo elsewhere.

Wally World has some of everything for you reloaders.

The Sterling Colorado Wally World has varget, and all the other powders in stock. Bullets and primers also. decent prices and it's better than the Cabellas in Sydney Nebraska 30 miles north. Weatherby Vangard in 300 mag for 350.00 is really what value is. They stock inexpensive weapons that allow for more shooting. Why re-barrel with a shaw or pacnor pole for 400.00+$ when a new 223 cost 350.00 new? I'll just buy a new one.

Here is N. Va it's still hit or miss. I stopped by a Wal*Mart on my way into the office this morning. No 9mm. I asked when they thought that a shipment might come in and was told that the warehouse has the ammo but isn't shipping to their store for at least a couple of days. The clerk informed me that she tried to place an order for ammo that morning and was denied saying that they would not be allowed to place an order for ammo until at least this weekend. Sounds as of the distribution center is rationing the ammo?

I wished for more .22lr to hit my area...and SHAZAM. My local WM's have it coming out of their ears. The problem is no 380, 9mm or 45 to speak of.
