I live between 3 Walmarts which are 15, 22, and 35 miles away, in 3 different directions. Yesterday I was in the closest one and found 2 boxes of Remington bulk 550; bought them both. Today I happened to be back in there, looking for a .22 laser with remote switch (found it, about $30) and they had a lot more .22 bulk on the shelf. One guy was all upset because he had driven "over 100 miles" and was limited to 6 boxes. He said he thought it was illegal, and he was going to call his lawyer. His buddy didn't have the money to buy more than 2 boxes, but he paid for the other 4, so they left with 12 boxes of .22 lr ammo. That's 6600 rounds. He was still cussing about the 6 box limit when he left. After he was gone, another customer pointed out the laminated sign saying that they were limiting sales of all ammunition to 6 boxes right now because of the shortages. It had been sitting about 4 inches from his elbow. I bought another 2 boxes to go with the laser. After all, I might use up the last of the bulk box I bought about 4 years ago, and need them sometime in the next decade.
The poor salesgirl stayed calm and polite throughout it all. She told me later that she was filling in in sporting goods today; she usually works in toys. How was she supposed to know all about ammo and policies?(My words, not hers) Stores are all running short on help because the retail sales markets are way down. Some stores like Lowe's are infamous for not having enough help in the first place.
Thanks to this forum and an online friend, I found a source for the large pistol primers I have been looking for. But I ordered them 5 days ago, and they haven't been shipped yet. I'm getting a little nervous...... it's anticipation.
