The Walmart Ammo thread

I'm from Wyoming; but I go to Colorado a lot. DIA, Denver, Ft Collins, etc... 2 weeks ago, went to Ft Collins (JAX). 45acp for $75 for 250 count. That's $15 per box of 50. 40sw for $13.95. Also Dick's in Loveland had plenty of 45acp and 9mm. Walmart definitely is the cheapest, but there are still plenty of places with <$20 a box for ammo. There's also another JAX in loveland. Right next door to Sam's Club.

My local Walmart has had the same 4 boxes of .357 Sig since around Dec. Other than that, there's nothing. All of the local gun shops are pretty well stocked though, you can find anything you need.

W00t!!! Wally World had Federal 9mm, tons!!!! Some 38 JHP's had a box of .45ACP (gone now lol) But im seeing a change, cept .22, its kinda weird there were no value packs there.... but w/e

It's actually the new Federal Champion 9mm 115gr FMJ, which seems to have replaced the Blazer Brass in our local WM. It's WM Item #002946506087 at $8.97 per box of 50, similar to BB.

Thanks! Seems this might be a slight downgrade from the American Eagle line, if price provides any indication. I don't know...

And that is a good reason if you have a Glock in .40, get the .357 sig barrel and a Lone Wolf 9mm (plus some 9mm mags.)

That way, if all the ammo there is to be found is .40s or .357 sigs, you are still good to go.

Walmart at 1171 and 35 in Lewisville, TX had 9mm, .40 and .45 tonight. They're remodeling so they don't have a glass cabinet right now but there was a case of each caliber sitting on the floor.

come on now you have to love how certain employees go to great lengths to hide ammo coming off the truck for there friends!!!!had a chance employee find a cse of 9mm stashed very neatly behind a pallet one day few days later he was laughing telling me another employee was asking about it hmmmmmmmmmmmm!! wonder how he knew it was there?

I can find everything but 9mm now at our wallyworlds (3 within 15 minutes) 223 easy....7.62 really easy considering their crazy price, 40 all three every day it seems. 44 never out....357 sig at least once a week. 22 here yonder and there..... however.com 9mm.....once every 6 months.

I was in 2 different Wally Worlds today in the Charlotte area and BOTH had 9mm, as well as .45 and .357 sig. Not a lot, but they had some. So I bought a few boxes at both stores. :D

My local Walmart

My Local Walmart had been getting ammo in fairly regularly, and the six box limit per day to one customer seemed to be stopping the hoarders who are buying up by the case and stocking up on it. But now...The last three times I have gone up there....nothing. They had some .40 SW yesterday morning, so I guess they did get some ammo in.

I stopped by a gunstore in my hometown on Saturday, and the owner says they are starting to get a bunch of the ammo thay have had backordered in.

I bought some .45ACP Blazer Brass for $17 a box. My plinking .45 ammo was getting REALLY low. I used to get this stuff for $12 a box.

My semi-local Wal Mart finally had some 22LR in stock (8 boxes of 550) yesterday so I picked up four (two for me, two for my brother). It was great to finally get some ammo and I felt good about leaving some for the next person.

They had 9mm on Friday but I missed the boat on that one. One down, one to go.

“I then noticed the limit signs. Turns out they are now limiting a person to 6 boxes of ammo purchased per day.”

I found this out when talking to the store manager about finding their ammo on the local gun store's shelves within 24hrs with a nice 150% to 300% mark up, depending on the caliber. Two, out of our three Wal-Marts received massive shipments this week. I finally got a couple of .22lr bricks, and Grandpa bought 600rds of the federal 55gr .223 in 100rd bulk packs. They have several cases of the .22 and .223 at the one, but sold out of 9mm and .40cal at both locations that day.

I'm sick of the Gun store clerks telling me "ammo is going up" ... 9 bucks for a fifty pack of .22lr subsonic... or 20 bucks for a 50 box of 9mm. Please more like we're PRICE GOUGING!

I sure do hope you guys finding the 9mm at Wally World, aren't getting the "Federal Champion" load. That stuff is garbage, I've never ran across anything worse accuracy wise. In my 9mm anyways.

However, I've used it in the .40 s&w and that seemed fine.

Hopefully they will get some of the Blazers in.

Stopped by Walmart and found ammo!!
Just bought 2 X 250 round boxes and 550 of 22lr today.
I was just happy to get some 9 mm finally.
I was getting ready to trade some of my .45 for 9mm.

I've now gone through 4 boxes of the Federal Champion 9mm in my G19. It's not the cleanest ammo that I've ever used but I find it to be more accurate than the Blazer Brass. As a matter of fact, after going through a few boxes of the Federal last week, I went to the range last evening with 2 boxes of each (Blazer and Federal Champion) and shot tighter groups with the Federal Champion. Maybe it's just hit or miss with the stuff but for $8.95 a box, it's too difficult to pass up.

When I shoot a handgun, it's to practice for self defense. Especially if it's a caliber that is a traditional self defense round. e.g. 45acp, 380, 32, 9mm, etc... As such, shooting distance will average a max distance of 20-30 feet. (Anything further than that, and you should be running the other way). And because I shoot golden sabers, hydra-shoks, corbon, etc... as my actual self defense rounds; what I practice with isn't as important. Especially at 20-30 feet where accuracy isn't going to be that noticeable. So for me; walmart is perfectly acceptable.

I've ran everyone of those types thru my .9mm. No complaints what so ever. I agree with you, anything farther from that one should be running, hiding, what have you. But when I go to the range. I shoot all different distances, with several different guns. While I practice your "traditional self defense zone" up to 25 yds. I go out to have fun as well as keeping my SD skills adequate. But I'd say more of my range time consists of "having fun". And I'm not having much fun if I'm not hitting what I'm aiming at. It just makes me feel as if all the money I'm spending isn't worth it. Just for personal statisfaction. But I use my weapons as a sport, hobby, weekend entertainment etc... Not just for SD. In other words I already spend too much money, let alone 6 or 7 bucks more per box of ammo.

Cool, now maybe you could come over here and rub a little of that luck off on me. :)
