The Walmart Ammo thread

2 days ago my parents we're at wall-mart and my dad called me.....
He said they have .40!!!

He picked up a 100rnd value pack of winchester white box...
I picked up 4 boxes of blazer brass for $12.47 a piece. They had a total of 6, I left 2...

PS, The boxes I picked up were re-labled FEDERAL, but they were exactly the same as the Blazer Brass...

Any one know anything about this????

I scored 5 boxes of WWB 9mm today at my local wally world. I can actually practice now AND shoot my new gun lol. I only had my defense ammo left before today :(
I'm still going to see if I can pick up some more in the near future. Would be good to have a small reserve so I can actually go shoot when I have time.

Las Vegas. Very iffy, but strangely enough, I've been finding 12 ga. slugs at Wally's. Nothing else. I'd rather not have to rely on the shotgun, but I could certainly do worse. My other stocks are OK, as long as I don't shoot anymore.
Reading around the 'net today, I see that things are expected to get worse, and the day keeps coming closer. Keep your reserves.

The Wal Marts in PA that I frequent keep selling out of 9mm. Apparently, one guy keeps stopping in; I'm told he's there every morning before the department opens. This jackass is really annoying....and I doubt that they are sticking to their posted 'Six ammo items per customer' policy, as they are getting 20 or more boxes and I'm pretty sure he's getting all of them. It's p*ssing me off.

You can bitch & moan, or you can do something about it.

1 - Get there before he does.

2 - Complain to the store manager about adhering to their own policy. If you don't get any satisfaction from the manager, ask for the regional manager's name and contact information.

Picked up two boxes of Blazer Brass 180's last week at the Covington WA walmart for $12.79 a box. I should have bought four but the budget is tight. He only had four left after I bought mine.

Checked 3 local walmarts in CO (Lafayette, Longmont, Broomfield), as well as 4 sporting good stores and 2 gunshops for 357mag and 45acp hardball, everyone is sold out of everything but shotgun shells, 22lr, and a very small handful of assorted rifle rounds.

Sport's Authority in Boulder has a lot of shotgun shells (slugs, bird and buck), no handgun ammo at all. Gunsport is the only place that had any .45 or .357 ammo at all, and only a couple boxes of premium defense ammo at that.

Found the hardball I was after on cheaperthandirt, got 200 rounds, but still nothing for my 357 on CTD, Midway, Cabella's, or anywhere for that matter :(

Hi Anticonn,

Here in CO too, and it is hard finding handgun ammo for me as well. I'm pretty much looking for the same rounds you are, tho' I'm also shopping for 9mm and .38 too. You never know when you may strike paydirt, so be persistent. I walked into the Dick's Sporting Goods in Lakewood a couple of weeks ago and they had 6 boxes of .45ACP target stuff, $20 each. I bought 2. The funny thing is, Dick's doesn't even sell handguns anymore at that location. Sports Authority over at Colorado Mills no longer sells pistols either. Weird...

Here in Northern Virginia I had a run of good luck over this past weekend. At the local Wal*Mart I stopped in three days in a row with my wife and was able to find 9mm each time. The Wal*Mart here has a 3 box limit (total ammo purchase), so my wife and I each purchased 2 boxes of Federal (50 ct) at $8.97 and 1 box of WWB (100 ct) $21.97. I was able to do this three days in a row. Each time there was plenty of ammo left for others and each time that we stopped in, it looked as if they had replenished the shelves. On my way home this evening I may stop in not to buy any (as this should give me enouch to practice with at the range for a little while), but just to see if it's still available. Hopefully this is a trend that will continue!

Just wondering, is the Federal stuff the American Eagle brand? If not, could you post up the item number? Thanks.

It's not the American Eagle Brand. It comes in a burgandy and black box. Ran through two boxes last evening and it shot great. I'll be sure to post the item number tonight.

Empty isn't the word to describe the shelves

Each time I've gone to Walmarts in the Central Florida area the shelves are as empty as Al Capone's safe on the night Huraldo opened it live on national T.V.

I have noticed that sporting goods stores and gun shops do have a reasonable steady supply to sell, usually limit one or two boxes per customer.

I was in the local Wally World on Monday and was surprised to finally see some WWB in 9mm. That's about all the handgun ammo they had, tho...

Wal-Marts in central IL are low on ammo, but I was able to find some 100 round Win white box .40 S&W FMJ loads for $27.00 each. Gander Mountain wants $29 for one box of 50. What a joke.

Stopped in at Wal-Mart last week and they had WWB 9mm 100 packs. Went by another gun shop in the area and they also had WWB 9mm in the 100 packs as well as a few other kinds of 9mm.

Looks like things are beginning to ease a bit.

Colorado Ammo

Colorado Guys-you may want to go to the Tanner gun show Aug 1 (dont wait for the 2nd), there are some guys from Wyoming that sell pistol ammo fairly reasonably. Seems to shoot well. Sells out pretty quick. I think they had .357 for $17 a box.

I've increased my search to another 2 walmarts, Gander and Sportsman's, over the past few days, still no 357mag. The Walmart on 84th and Sheridan (I think it's 84th...) had some 10 minutes before I walked in, the gentleman at the counter said they sell out by about 10am when they get a shipment in. They had some .223rem and 9mm Luger on the shelf, though probably long gone by this point.

I paid entirely too much for the 45ACP (rem/umc FMJ hardball) I got off CTD, at $29/50rd, but I'd rather pay that than $0/0rd

glencal1 - that's a great idea, I'll have to check it out. Never actually been to that show, an older fellow I used to work with said he works one of the booths there, I'll have to call him up and see if he can't grab me a couple boxes if I can't make it.

PS: yay colorado people \o/

It's actually the new Federal Champion 9mm 115gr FMJ, which seems to have replaced the Blazer Brass in our local WM. It's WM Item #002946506087 at $8.97 per box of 50, similar to BB.

Another Colorado guy

The WalMart on Sheridan is just north of 92nd. I spoke to Tom, the guy in Sporting Goods there, last week and he said that he had gotten shipments for a couple of days in a row. I went in last Thursday and they had 9mm, .40s&w, .45acp, .223, and 7.62x39mm! I could hardly contain my joy!! :D You are limited to six boxes so I bought 1 of each.

Be persistent. During times when I need ammo, I get a list of all WalMarts on my way to work. I then call each up individually and ask them if they have received any ammo. If so, I stop by and pick up a box or two. I have been fortunate to find ammo when I am starting to run low.

I also second the Tanner show; however, during the last show they were still gouging.

I will remember who's prices stayed reasonable (WalMart, 5280 Armory, Sportsman's) and who didn't (Gander, Dick's, Sports Authority) when this thing turns around.
