Why would anyone want a Taurus when better firearms are available? Long after the few dollars difference are forgotten you will still have the gun.

I have had a number of S&W's, Rugers and Colts over the years. I shot them a lot and used them hard sometimes. Never has one of those three brands ever fail me. Plus - I can wave the flag while I shoot my guns. The value of most Taurus drop like a lead fish after you take them home. A quality North American gun usually holds it's value.

Although I don't have a Taurus and would not buy a new one; I might pick up a used one for an extra (non-critical) this or that - if it was selling cheap; as a toss around gun. For the most part they still work I guess. If it were all I had then I'd sure put it to use until I could afford somthing better. Many years ago the only handgun I had was an Iver Johnson Sidewinder (22 cal) revolver. So I understand that one uses what one has at the time. When folks bought their brand new Yugo's, I'm sure they could drive from point A to B. There is just not much pride in ownership. I'm not bashing, I just don't understand why?

Why would anyone buy a Chevy Aveo, when there are better automobiles available?

Why would anyone buy a Marlin Model 60, when there are better .22 rifles available?

Why would anyone buy a Mossberg 500, when there are much better shotguns available?

Why would anyone buy MJB, when there is much better coffee available?

The Taursites

So did you buy the Yugo? It would indeed be a dull world if we were all the same. I never knew that Taurus ownership went hand in hand with excessive caffine use? It's fun to excite the Taursites. One little joke like - I'd rather live beside a man that owns a S&W than to have a Taurus." Please accept my humble apology if I offended the good name of these fine South American firearms.

Oh come on - surely you don't rage at Ron White when he does his bit? I said, I humbly apologize. To show you I'm sincere, any Taruarsites can forward their address and I'll try to send them a sympathy card when I get time. Remember - "Friends don't let friends buy Taurus!" Ohhh, shucks, I did it again - well please accept my humble apology if I offended anyone by tarnishing the name of those exquisite South American firearms.

This is all in fun - Ben Franklin said - Either we all hang together or we all hang seprately. I hope and pray that two years from now anyone that wants one can still go out and buy a sack full of Taurus'es.

Taurus used to build some of the best handguns available. I think that they are still capable of doing so but, their quality has fallen lately.
I had a Millenium Pro .45 and had problems with it right out of the box. That is not a confidence builder for a carry piece.

That's kinda the problem.

I didn't have to waste money on a Yugo to figure that one out either? How ofter have you seen the price rising on used Taurus products? Old saying - "Good judgement comes from experience - experience comes from bad judgement". I've made plenty of my own mistakes, I'd just rather not make any more.

Taurus is now making Yugo?

Now thats funny I don't care who you are. But nahhh... I bet its the other way around - Taurus is Yugo's South American industry, si?

I almost bought a Yugo in 1986 however they went extinct years ago. $4000 for a brand new car. Then I read it was based on a Fiat. So I got a brand new Chevy Sprint for $7000. It was a good little car getting 50 to 55MPG.
I currently have 7 trucks and cars now in my collection (all perfect)stored inside my shop winters. I have over 150 firearms set up like a museum. All makes and kinds of firearms. Life is good.

Taurus

I have owned 5 different Taurus revolvers in the last 15 years, and though I only own one right now, ALL 5 have been good dependabale firearms, that have given me no trouble at all! Granted they are not Smiths, Colts, or Rugers, but I would trust my life to either one of the ones I have owned. Having no experience with any Taurus semi-autos, I can give no opinions on them, other than to say a friend of mine who owns a PT 92 swears by it!

I got rid of three Taurus guns so far.

Today, I recieved a gift a PT 24/7 .45. I had it once before, but it failed. I will take this one out to shoot two mags from 20 yards and be back with report.

Please know that I shoot usually at 75+ with handguns so my assessment at 20 yards will be good enough for me.

I am surprised with your hatred towards Taurus that you even accepted it as a gift. I am sure you will find it a POS. Myself, I have no bias against any guns..love them all.
