Yes, but I don't think that is a terrible number. It is a tough question. The problem has been stated before. Some answered (as I did) based on direct experience with a particular Taurus. If I had not had the experience I have with my PT945 I probably would have answered no. I am not sure how the poll would have come out if asked for only response from people with direct experience with Taurus. Some have had bad direct experience and would have still answered no, but I think the final results would have been more in favor of Taurus...but not sure.
Bottom line. If I had gone on what I read rather than my direct experience I would have answered no.
Madmag, lets put your particular Taurus aside and speak in terms of a Taurus off the shelf.
Would still say 'yes' given the choices from various brands you can pick a Taurus off the shelf and trust it to such a point where it is you only handgun?
Only owned one, a SA 380. Shot well, but the trigger lever that disengaged the firing pin block broke, rendering gun inoperable. Local dealer said he'd never seen that before, so I sent it back for repair. Taurus put in new part, two months later same part broke again. Had it repaired and then traded it in. An unreliable 380 is a paperweight. If I had "trusted my life" to it I would be history. Sticking to S&W revolvers. Pull trigger = bang.
I've owned (2) Taurus handguns. Had a .38 snub & sold it to a good friend to fund another purchase, it is still running fine. Currently own a PT940 that has been flawless.
I have many guns by other manufacturers, but if I was only in posession of my PT940 I'd feel well armed.
