I've never looked at the PPQ as being ugly, but then again I was never offended by the Glock's looks either. The PPQ is quite steamlined, but I don't care for the massively large trigger guard, which places a weapon light so far forward I can't reach the activation switch with my trigger finger (and I've tried several). Aside from that, they pretty much shoot into the X-ring themselves with little assistance from the user.
I will say though, that nothing made today will ever approach the beauty of any 19th Century revolver or one of John Browning's classic designs.
