The handgun you were most DISAPPOINTED in?

My first handgun purchase was a long-ago discontinued High Standard Dura-Ace. It had a once piece plastic (Bakelite?) grip/mag well. The recoil lug at the back of the grip would break at about every 1,000 rounds, or so. The gun was an utter disappointment and I traded it away after replacing the third handle; but, that's ancient history.

More recently, I got a Hartford replica Bisley in .45 LC, from EMF. The barrel was probably set late on a Friday afternoon because it has a monstrous cylinder gap (possibly the reason it was deeply discounted). The "cylinder porting" gives the .45 a light recoil.

Para Slim Hawg. Had mine about 40 days. Shot it about 200 times the first day & it jammed at least once every magazine. Got it back from Para in 30 days, & shot it about 30-40 times, then the extractor claw broke. Then it jammed every other shot. Pretty gun though.

Dissapointment....

A EAA Witness in 9mm I bought back in 1994 ! It would shoot one round and would not chamber the next. It was nice, felt good in the hand, pointed well, but a one shooter ! Returned it ! Piece of JUNK ! :(

AMT .22 mag automag. I couldn't wait to buy one of these when they first came out many, many years ago. Complete Pos! Wouldnt cycle two rounds in a row without jamming up! I should have known. I once had AMT Hardballer .45 and a AMT Backup 380 and they both were junk as well.

I've owned 2 1911 45 acp pistols. A stainless Springfield and the other I don't rember the make, it was a long time ago. Neither one of them ran worth a crap. FTF's with ball ammo. I got so discouraged I traded the Springfield for a Glock 21. I really like the 1911 platform too, I just didn't have any luck with them.

As an ex rangemaster at a popular handgun range, I have seen my share of problem guns. If there is one lesson I have learned, it is to never believe every gun review in popular gun magazines. There are plenty of turkeys out there.

The thread that wouldn't die. In a thread much like this in 1998 I had the same answer:

COP 4 barrelled .357, should have been called the POS .357. It was thicker and heavier than a Glock, only held 4 rounds, was slow to reload, did not go bang every time you pulled the trigger, had a 20 pound trigger pull, and the barrels where not regulated to a common impact point. It shot groups over one foot at 7 yards. The best use of this pistol was to use the weight to cave the opponents head in, IF you could swing it.

Number 2 has to be the P22. I was hoping for a replacement for the Walther PP22 at half the price. That was expecting WAY too much. It worked, but it was no PP or PPK.

The Diamondback 380 I'm about to return to the dealer for credit. I love the form factor of the gun, its easy to conceal and very accurate WHEN it fires. But, after over 400 rounds and several cleaning and lubrications, still to many FTF, soft strikes and failure for the trigger to reset to make it a reliable BUG. I'm tempted to exchange it for a DB 380 EXO to see if that is any better. The issues seem to be ammo specific, but I can't chance that. Maybe a Kel-Tec P3AT?

Sent from my kick ass HTC EVO!

S&W Model 63 kit gun.
The single most inaccurate gun I have ever owned, and I've owned a lot of guns. No one, and I mean decent handgun shooters could keep six shots on a pie plate...FROM A REST...at 25 yards. Tried every type of ammo there is from the most expensive target ammo to a brick of the worst crap. made no difference. Probably has defective rifleling or something. Bottom of safe haven't taken it out in 15 years.

Sure glad the OP posted this. I read the first 300 responses and saw only one comment from anyone who claimed to be a disappointed Kel-Tec P3AT owner. Since the inexpensive and unassuming little Kel-Tec P3AT was under attack from Ruger flacks a couple of years ago (when Ruger came out with a competing BUG gun) the fact that it was mentioned as a disappointment by just one of the first 300 respondents to this thread is evidence that the P3AT has been a good performer for most owners. It is also a testament to the P3AT owners preference for a guns performance over its cosmetics.

S&W 4506. Most inaccurate full size handgun I have ever fired. One of only three firearms I have ever gotten rid of. Most disappointing because the 4506 is a sweet gun otherwise.
