The handgun you were most DISAPPOINTED in?

Springfield XD!

After owning several .45 ACP Springfields in the 80's, early 90's, I thought the Springfield XD was a sure bet. It was just a GLOCK clone with a worse trigger!

And then there was the Kimber .45, but that is another story... worse, because it cost more!

S&W 5905

I bought a 9mm S&W 5905 from a LEO friend. Accuracy was horrible. I sold it and thought that all Semi Auto pistols must be inaccurate. I was a revolver only guy till one day at the range I saw a guy with a 1911 shoot a small raged hole at 25 yards.

my springfield xd 9 sub compact is one of my favorite guns next to my colt defender..never failed me yet..took anything I fed into it..not one jam or stovepipe after so far, about 400 rounds through it...

That said, my most disappointing handgun has to be the baretta .25acp I bought brand new...I wanted something small enough to carry in my pocket in the summertime.took it to the range, and the magazine BLEW apart , plate spring and all, after 2 shots fired..Baretta sent me a replacement, and then the slide came apart..Baretta replaced the entire gun, and believe it or not, the very same thing happened with the magazine..I promptly sold it..and will never buy another baretta again.

My Sig P238 before Sig fixed it. This thing made me so mad and I was so disgusted I didn't even know what to do with it. But I let Sig fix it, and now we are making up.......:p

Sigs my father and i got into the sig thing in 1990'x

i believe it was in the 1990's may be wrong had a p220 that would lock completely-up at the range
sig said nothing wrong got rid of that junk then the worst this is making my blood boil just thinking of it my father bought both of us a limited edition custom sig p226 might have been a special navy edition of maybe five hundred but the serial #'several the thousands we got them from a gun shop in FL. the sig forum and others liked....sent it us in one box uninsured..then they were crap the barrel would beat up against the slide causing sig smilies a phrase used then my two gun smith one from germany said the guns were out of balance NO MORE SIGS.....our cz ,ruger p-series XD have all been outstanding even my glocks are super....some people think the more u pay for the gun the better the gun will be how wrong i feel better now thanks for letting me rant....David

So far, my Gen 4 Glock 17.

I like the gun, though, so I suppose that means I've been pretty fortunate in my handgun buying. However, I still find myself wanting to take a number of other guns to the range before the Glock. I take it along anyway, hoping that it will really start to grow on me.

I have no real functional complaints about the gun. It stovepiped twice with the original spring, but it's had no problems with the "02" spring. It's not as accurate as my other semi-autos or other semi-autos I've shot, but expect that in a gun built with tolerances that allow it to shoot reliably after being submerged in sand, mud, and whatever else.

Mainly, for me the gun is pretty close to soulless. That doesn't mean I wish I didn't own it. It just means I'm not that excited to shoot it. I do appreciate its capabilities, though. If I ever had to survive outdoors in adverse conditions and could only have one handgun, it would very probably be some model of Glock.

S&W Sigma 9VE. That darn trigger will wear you out.

As for the complaint on the XD, you should have called Springfield. They have about the best service going of all. I had a chipped extractor in my XD40 and called them. They emailed a FEDX label. I boxed it and sent it in Friday night. I had it back the following Thursday. No cost to me, gone less than a week and it runs great again!

Out of almost 30 handguns the worst gun i have ever owned was a Glock 21. It gave me so many problems and i honestly dont feel like typing it all over again.

The weird thing is that the 2nd worst gun was a Glock 19.

The 21 malfunctioned when i fired it in self defence, i will NEVER trust this brand of pistol to protect myself ever again.

Seecamp(complete failure and disappointment)
Beretta NEOS(failed form day 1-complete POS)
XD45(good firearm, I was just not proficiant with it)

H&R .22lr revolver, I think it was a 922. Wouldn't fire reliably in DA or SA mode.

Taurus .22lr revolver model 94. Works GREAT in SA mode. VERY ACCURATE. DA mode is less than acceptable [5-7 out of 9 rounds fire 1st time].

S&W Model 410: this one is probably due to my lack of skills. I just could NOT get it to hit even close to the target's center. My skills have improved, but I also have abandoned .40 cal and use 9mm or .45 for semi-autos now.

Baby Eagle 9mm full-sized [magnum research]: horrible trigger out of box. Sent it to manufacturer. Was half as bad. I learned to become a gunsmith on this one and now friends who shoot it comment on how smooth the trigger is in DA or SA mode.

NEVER been disappointed with my Kahr K9, my Ruger GP100 6", My Ruger 22/45, My S&W Model 629-4, or my SA Loaded 1911.

I have posted before and will again. Out of all the firearms I have owned (and there have been a few) I was most disappointed in the Walther P22. It was one of the guns I was looking forward to the most and it didn't deliver for me. I could not get through a single magazine without some type of jam. I tried several types of ammo and sold the gun after one range session. That was about 3 years ago.

I have recently got the itch to try one again reading some to the good experiences people have had with them but I don't know just yet.

My Glock 17 Gen 4, if you care to read the below thread you will find out why.

http://thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=418879

In the end Glock replaced the spring twice which fixed the FTE problem, then they replaced the Striker Pin which fixed the FTF problem that came later, then I had to have a Gunsmith fix the ejector because it kept throwing brass in my face. That weapon ended up costing me alot of money, after I got it working I sold it because of the bad juju around that weapon. Would have sold it sooner but my damn ethics got in the way, had to fix it first.

Bersa High Capacity disappointment

Liked the looks and price of the Bersa High Capacity in 40 caliber. Ordered one. After taking delivery I was disappointed with the overall cheap appearance of the gun but not enough to get rid of it.

Started shooting and had multiple failures with a multitude of different styles and brands of ammo. Couldn't find anything the gun liked. Got rid of it after about 500 rounds of disappointment.

Guess you could say I learned my lesson about buying cheap guns.

The very first gun I shot I suppose, or maybe the Sig 226.
The first gun I shot was some make I don't know; it was a .22 revolver that was big, heavy and held 10 rounds. It was the first actual gun I held. My whole life I'd always been told(maybe not directly but lead/made to believe) that every gun was super powerful and would knock you over if you weren't prepared for the recoil pretty much. 22 years of hearing that and then firing a .22LR from a gun that has VERY little recoil...it disappointed me in a way.

The 226 is a weird thing. The one I shot was chambered for 9mm. I had always heard how it was this powerful gun(on the level of a 45 mag) so I was disappointed when it didn't launch a football size bullet, I guess.
Lies and exaggerations kind of messed up my first trips to the range... still more fun than I had sitting on my but playing video games though.
