The Handgun(s) You Should Have Kept?

I've sold 4 handguns in my life: a Taurus 445 .44 Special, Norinco 213 9mm, S&W M21-4 .44 Special, and Colt Cobra .38 Special. I sometimes miss the S&W and Colt a little, the Taurus and Norinco not so much. I've also sold three rifles: a No. 4 Mk. I Lee-Enfield, Yugoslavian M59/66 SKS, and a Luxembourg-contract FN-49 in 30-06, I regretted selling the Enfield almost from the moment I did but I don't really miss the SKS (too big and heavy for the cartridge) or the FN-49 (had issues).

I'm a shooter rather than a collector, and I've horse traded a lot of guns over the years; haven't really lost sleep over any of them. A couple that I wish I still had are a Kahr P9, a mint condition Smith & Wesson 1066, and a pre-lock Smith & Wesson 317. I did miss the 317, so bought another one. :p

A BUG

It was an S&W 642 in scandium. I added a CT laser grip. Then traded for an S&W 60-4 to get something that was more comfortable at the range.

Can I have a do-over?

Oh golly...A Python, Early Model 19 S&W, Early S&W 36 with flat latch and diamond grips. Colt Trooper MKIII, S&W Classic 44 magnum, Mauser HSC, Sig P230, Sig 226. Dang I was stupid in my earlier days but needed cash occasionally too for other "stuff". Now I buy and KEEP.

Things I SHOULD have bought in bulk...M1 carbines, Norinco Paratrooper SKS back when they were 89 bucks a piece. CMP M1 Garands, a boatload of nice Enfields.

Every gun I sold should still be in my safe so to answer your question I shouldn't have sold anything listed below.
Remington 760 Gamemaster, Iver-Johnson pump 22lr, Colt Tropper MkIII, S&W 28,S&W 459, Ruger SP101, Beretta PX4, Para P12-45, Ruger MKIII, Glock 30 H&R single shot 12 gauge

A wise man learns from his mistakes.....and Cheapshooter's rule of gun ownership #1 :D

An S&W 696 .44 Special. Bought it at a gunshop that was closing for $325 new. Traded it for a .40 S&W Browning HP Practicla model which I hated. Traded that for a CZ-75 in .40 and love it. But those 696s now fetch $1000 or more.

The only two I regret, sort of:

Original OSS Liberator .45 single shot

1909 Colt .45 (but I kept the one with the British proof marks).

But I sold them to by a full auto, which I much enjoy.

I had one of the original Gunsite GSPs made in the mid to late 80s I sold for the wrong reasons (whatever they were). I wish I could replace it.

I figured out a few years ago that I have bought and sold over 3000 guns. There are many that I wish I could have kept. The two that come to mind are a Detonics 45 and a Smith and Wesson 29 2 1/2 barrel with unfluted cyl. (I usually only like fluted cyl.)

As I read this I realize the model 29 was traded for the Detonics, no cash! Someone offered me alot of money for the Detonics. It was one that shot extremely well for me.

I somewhat regret selling my very first pistol - a Smith n Wesson M&P9 full size. This was the best pistol i've owned so far (out of a few handguns within a year).

I have never sold or given away a gun that my wife or I have purchased or owned. I might give one to the kids someday when they buy a house as an example though.

A 1968 purchased Browning Hi-Power in the original hi gloss blued finish plus its companion .380 Pocket Model. The pair were sold when I got back from 'Nam for less than $150 to buy a muzzle loader. Rod

The only handgun I've sold so far was a Ruger P90. Sold it to help finance a Kimber and while I now own the better of the 2 guns, I do still miss the P90. I may try to find another one when finances are a little better. I did trade a Ruger Single Six for an S&W 36, don't miss the single six at all.

Stu

I don't sell or trade guns, so I'll never experience this regret unless some tragedy compels me to sell part or all of my collection.

One handgun immediately comes to mind: a 357 Ruger Blackhawk. :( Someone got a really nice S/A revolver (from me).

I do't regret trading or selling guns. I usually make up or even trades. I did lose on trading a Beretta .380 for a Kletec P11 (Stupid moment).
