The number on excuses used for AR jams are poor cheap Magazines.

I am sure this is the case.

But what is the high quality Magazines.

Colt?

Armalite?

If you want the very best quality magazine for your AR what do you run with to keep it form jamming???

Since the early 70's, I've always used either Colt or GI and never had any troubles, in any of my AR's.

Been using the Magpuls of late too, and they seem to work fine. I have a couple that dont like to go into my Armalites mag wells though.

I am impressed with the Magpul mags. These are what I intend to buy from now own but I don't have any problem with USGI mags.

First off, is this another "Mini-14 is better than AR" bait post?

That said, I've never had any mag-related issues (or any other jamming issues) with my AR, but the concensus is that Magpul PMAGs are excellent and inexpensive magazines.

OKay Industries, same thing the military has used for years. $8.00 each from BCM. Never had a problem with them yet. Why don't you give it a rest?

Huh? Millions of ARs carried by millions of GIs, plus the number used by police, hunters, sport shooters, and mall ninjas and suddenly the magazine is the downfall of the AR? How do you figure? Good magazines are cheap, Brownell's has them on sale for $9.99. If you want to go with Pmags, Brownells sells a 10-pack for 140.00, which comes to $14.00 apiece. Fairly cheap by any standard. Or, you can buy them singly, at your option.

That's just one vendor. Lots of folks sell AR magazines. Dozens of vendors over the years have built magazines to military specs. In my AR bag, I've got magazines by O-Kay Industries, Adventure Manufacturing, Bushmaster and Magpul. One of my mags, last year, was fired after having been loaded since 1991. Several of my magazines have been around since the late '60s.

Have I ever had a bad magazine? Sure, but AR mags are easy to get. Simply unload it, crush it and throw it in the trash. Nothing to it.

But, downfall of the AR system? Not hardly.

Magpul are great, H&K makes a mag that feels like you could use as a weapon in itself. but its kinda heavy. But even the stock ones can take some abuse see picture. Stock mag next to H&K mag. Both are several years old and have **** ton of rds through them.

Yes, The down fall of the AR is comming very, very soon. I will do everyone a favor that no longer wants these terrible guns and will humbly take them off anyone's hand for $50. It's the least I can do!
Pmag...Pmag...Pmag

I've had plenty of AR magazines cause stoppages or fail altogether (broken spot welds). But when you train hard, drop mags in the mud, in sand, step on them as you move, etc, that's bound to happen. No big deal, I have hundreds of them and new, high quality, replacements only cost about $12-$15.

I guess when you pay upwards of $30 per 20-rnd factory magazine, you tend to baby them.

Never had an AR jam. With any magazine, no excuses needed.

I once saw a guy try to insert his AR mag backwards.... But once he got it right his rifle ran like a top...

Oh and pmags from magpul are cheap.

P-Mag = about $13-$16

looks like a steal compared to the factory mini 14 mags (the only reliable mini 14 mags in my personal experence) costing about $25-$35

I don't know what all this talk is about your AR jamming. The 5 years I worked for Uncle Sam, I sent a lot of rounds downrange without one single hiccup. Anybody who knows will tell ya that he buys from the lowest bidder. Not to mention all his toys get used and abused.

Not sure what ya'll are doing to them. Maybe it's the after-market parts you're putting on them? But I know 3 rd burst will empty a 30 mag in a hurry. Done it plenty without cussing a jammed weapon.

Keep 'em clean and lubed. Seems to work for lot's of GI's for close to 50 years.

I only use Pmags in my AR's with no hitches.

However.. in all seriousness... the downfall to any semi auto is the magazine, since no matter the weapon... out of spec mags will cause 90% of the problems.
