The almighty .45 acp.

I do. It's ridiculous to believe that a hollow point will work every time without fail and provide a disabling hit. That's just like putting absolute faith in your car that any time you put in the key it will start.

The makers spent an eternity developing that ammo, and even so there are plenty of chances for failing in the individual shot.
I can't say it often ehough. Chaos rules everything. Something like what murphy said. failure is something that must be expected.

How many nasa vehicles, the height of technology, have blown up?

I agree. Hollow points, depending on what brand and quality, will not always expand. I have seen probably 3 out of 100 HST round in 9mm .40, and .45 acp. If it doesn't expand-well shot placement is key anyway so expansion to me is the icing on the cake.

I'm just curious. Plenty of deer hunters here, and every person who kils a deer does a bit of a necropsy.

Those of you who have done heart/lung shots on deer with a standard, non magnum round, no cns involvement or bone involvement, just a matter of bleeding out, what is the farthest distance one has ever run?

I know bowhunters who have had them make it almost 100 yards. Just curious as to how long it can take for a deer to die just because it's bleeding.

I have shot multiple white tail with lung/lung/heart shots with my .30-06 that have run over 100 yards before finally dropping. One doe actually (best I can tell) crawled through the field I was searching to die 50 yards behind me. Took me hours to find her (no blood trail, she was really, really fatty) and her heart came out in 4 pieces.

I like standard pressure Federal HST in both .45 (230 grain) and 9mm (147 grain).

Shoot great, expand and penetrate good in the tests I've seen.

Carry both calibers depending on how I'm feeling.
