I agree with old bear....

You either get a bargin pistol with great features or you get a bargin pistol with problems and it seems like its 50/50 for which way its going to go...

For myself I will never buy from Taurus again... I had a PT 145 that failed to fire unless you pulled the trigger intentionally to the right... I have a PT 845 with the hammer slightly canted but that never fails to fire, it also doesnt like a full mag + 1 in the chamber.... Use just a full mag without the extra shot and it works like a dream....

The barrel on my 44 Mag Tracker was over tightened. The sights don't even line up! The cylinder is canted so that the bullets get to slam into the forcing cone. The manual says not to use a 240 grn bullet beyond 1350 fps. It also had trouble firing Blazer Spls. They would bind up the cyclinder for some reason.

I've put thousands upon thousands through the 92/99 series; as good as anything out there and less money to boot.

Also had 2 M85's and a M94, no problems whatsoever.

Interesting read: read the thread on lemons and you'll see that Taurus is rarely mentioned. Quite a few internet darling brands showed up in that thread. hmmm?

I own 28 handguns, a Beretta, 2 Walthers and the rest all S&W or Ruger. Not a problem among them and they get a lot of range time.

Nothing wrong with my PT 92. Solid, dependable, etc.

PT 709 - not good. I no longer own it.

Millenium Pro 145, .45ACP, DS with a 3.25" barrel - I like it a lot - no issues.
I bought it cuz it was very inexpensive for a compact .45. I really am surprised that I took the chance but very happy with it so far.

I have a Taurus PT-22.

It's been flawless in over 2,500 rounds of Winchester Wildcat. 0 failures to extract, feed, or fire.

It does have a problem with CCI Blazer, but I suspect that's simply because of a harder case metal.

I don't have one and see no reason to ever buy one, but that's just me. I've read a lot about firearms over the years and decided long ago that I don't need one.
It's like Ford? Chevy, Dodge? We all make choices. It's personal.

I had wanted a PT1911 in a bad way, when they were first advertised.
Problem was, they were advertised 2 years before they were even made available, so I bought a Springfield and boy I'm glad I did. :)

With all the negative things I've read about Taurus guns from their owners and Taurus customer service, I doubt I'll ever buy one.

I'd prefer to pay a little extra for a gun with a proven track record and good customer service.

my first two purchases were taurus manufacturer. to put it simply - i just didn't know any better. i always just thought i was just a bad shooter. the day i got my first sig p226, i knew what i had been missing. TAURUS IS JUNK.

The only Taurus that I have firsthand experience with is a .38 revolver that belongs to my father. The trigger just may be the grittiest I have ever fired, and it stacks so badly that I would swear the trigger weight is at least 15 pounds at the break. But it has worked reliably for at least three decades.

All manufacturers have their lemons, but it sure seems to me that you hear a lot more about Taurus than other manufacturers, and I am not tempted to own one. For those who have good ones that they like, rock on, but there are too many dissatisfied owners for me to put my money down.

I manage a large gun inventory for a NW sporting goods chain, and I send back as many Taurus revolvers for warranty service as all other handguns combined that we sell. Taurus autoloaders, on the other hand, we've had very good luck with and I believe I've only sent a single one back, and that was for a minor problem with the front sight, not for a malfunction with the operation of the gun. We have a very fast turn around on warranty service... maybe they take care of dealers better than individuals...? If every dealer in the country is sending back revolvers as often as we do, Taurus must have a virtual army of gunsmiths at their Florida facility.

I bought a Judge Public Defender Polymer and really liked it. At about 75 rounds it developed a crack near the forcing cone. It took Taurus about 9 weeks to send me a replacement, but the new gun was actually an improvement from the one I sent in. I have now fired a few hundred rounds through it and it is my main carry gun. Very well made and finished, with a good 10 pound double action trigger pull and a light crisp single action pull.
Would I recommend Taurus for someone else? Yes but with reservations. If it was going to be their only or first gun, then no.

Oxymorom - Taurus quality.

I've had 2 of their autos, and both were duds right out of the box. And CS was unable to fix either one to where I had any confidence in them. I paid a lot of money for some valuable information. I won't buy another.

I own a Taurus PT-145 Millennium Pro .45 ACP and it's my cc gun. It's the only Taurus I have owned and it shoots every time I pull the trigger. The gun has not had any issues with any of the ammo I have put through it. Did I get lucky? Maybe. But I once owned a Toyota Tacoma and traded it in for a Ford F-150. Never had any issues with the Toyota but needed a bigger truck with four wheel drive. Now probably 50% of truck owners might say buying a Ford is a crap shoot or maybe they've had issues with a Ford or know someone that had issues so they won't buy one. To this day my wife will not buy a Chevy because she had a bad experience with one. But my Ford runs great. Did I get lucky? Maybe.

I have a PT1911 and a 709 slim. My 709 has occasional (like 1 out of 100ish) malfunctions but my PT1911 has been flawless. They're not as nice fit and finish wise as some of the other brands out there but they're fine if you want to save some money and get a decent gun.

C0untZer0, yes it really is my carry gun.

I have all chambers with Federal Premium 000 Buck.
I have tested this load in my gun and it keeps a nice tight group.

It will fully penetrate 4 gallon water jugs at 7 yards.
