Taurus Hand Guns are Good.

I have one

a Taurus PT916C which has over 2k rounds with only one jam ....
I have nothing bad to say about it...payed 395.00 new....good auto for the prices.

That question cannot be answered YES or NO, and the OP is just trying to get support for his belief that his gun is good. The fact is that Taurus quality control is spotty, especially in their revolvers. The result is that most folks who buy a Taurus get good guns that give good service. But some percentage will get lemons that give nothing but trouble and require factory service, which is also spotty.

As Taurus fans never tire of pointing out, other makers also have had lemons. True, but as I have said elsewhere, there seem to be a lot more lemon trees in Brazil than in Massachusetts.

The fact is that if you get a good Taurus product you will brag about it and denounce as a liar anyone who suggests they can produce a bummer. And if you get a poor Taurus product, you will be convinced that those who like them are lunatics or people who hang them on the wall. Both are right and both are wrong. And that is both human nature and a problem for Taurus.

Not every gun from Brazil is crap.........only the ones that say Taurus :)

My guns that say "Imbel" and "Rossi" (the old, pre-Taurus Rossi) on the side have been great.

Oh, and as to the OP's question, that would be a definite no for me, they are not good guns.

This could be summed up as simply NO.

Question asked for a yes or no to Taurus being good, not a psychology lesson. There are plenty of other threads asking for full opinions that you can unload on.

I can sum this up from something I saw at a gun store I worked at. We had a Taurus Tracker come in, when we opened it up to set it on the display case there was a 2" "extension" from the end of the barrel. It was very thin (about .2" or less). Upon inspection the barrel itself (not the stainless steel around the barrel) hadn't been cut so we had a 2" extension that was basically rifling. This means nobody visually inspected the gun and the gun certainly wasn't test fired (was not a small blemish or something hard to notice). I understand every company has lemons.. this was above and beyond.

The best part... Taurus's response when they saw we were displaying it on the shelf :).

OK, treefarmernc and other Taurus lovers (and wiseguys), I have tried to be fair to the company but here is the bottom line:

I would not own one and would not recommend anyone else waste their money on them. Buy a quality product like High Point instead.

Now what is the psychology of people who spend time defending shoddy products and dump on people who recognize trash for what it is?

That, guys, is a NO.

Jim

Both yes and no.

My model 85 is perfect. Father-in-laws model 941 is a POS. There is no simple yes or no to this question. Taurus has been hit-or-miss for a while.

Good pooint, Jim. I think this sums it up very nicely.

I reiterate. Every thing that you have posted could have been simply summed up as NO. I have no problem with your opinion of the quality of Taurus just your inability to hold up to the OP question. Like I said in my last post, there are plenty of other threads that ask for full opinions.

Lol, were you REALLY expecting to get pages of "YES" or "NO" responses? That would be an interesting thread to read :D

For future reference the "keep it simple, one word answer" threads almost NEVER work... Some questions can't be answered with a simple YES or NO.

My answer - Revolvers: YES, Semi-Autos - ehhh, not really.
