Sportsman's Warehouse vs. WallyWorld in Ammo.

...

Sportsman's Warehouse has CCI Blazers $12.50 for a box of 50. I can't find anything worth shooting at wallyworld for that cheap. I know they are not brass but I've shot them a lot and CCI Blazers are great practice rounds.

Screw Walmart - if they won't stock guns, then I sure as heck won't be buying ammo from them. Besides, it's cheaper at Academy. About the same at S.W., and not much more at BassPro.

Walmart is in the business of making money...shame on them!

Any business that isn't in business for the purpose of making money can't stay in business.

Someone must have brainwashed at least one forum member that it is evil to offer products at good prices.

If it's about only buying American, I'm pretty sure I could find many products in your home, including many of the components of your physical house structure, not to mention your car parts, clothes you wear, kitchen appliances, etc., that are not US-made.

Anyway -- there's virtually no 9mm ammo to be had locally these days at either Wally World or Sportsman's Warehouse. I order mine online and pay extra.

Fairbanks Walmart has better ammo prices than the
Fairbanks Sportsman's Warehouse, whereas the Warehouse
has a much larger selection of firearms. They are both
big box stores, so if you prefer small store prices and
selection, shop there. Both local stores have very good
people working there, but the small gun shops still beat
them for individual attention.:D

My final update from my locale, Southern NM: "Long live Wal*Mart!" Since Sportsman's Warehouse opening, they have steadily increased prices for factory ammo and WallyWorld has been consistent.
Now-a-days, SW is completely out of most factory ammo; every day!
I still can acquire Blazer Brass in my calibers at WM since I've finally learned their stocking routine...:)
In this "topsy-turvy", buying-hording spree, it's every Man for Himself....

Sportsman's here tends to have the lowest prices on gun in the local area.

Their ammo supply tends to be cyclical but low priced (comparatively speaking).
They do always have a good supply of shotgun shells and have the best prices on them in the area.

I've pretty much given up looking for ammo in stores and keep checking the various on line sellers and order when one has something in stock that I feel I need.

When Walmart goes belly up, I'll see you in the soup line! They are one of the most successful businesses in the world and two days ago they laid off 800 from their home office, not a good sign!30,000,000 people, mostly poor make ends meet shopping there. I'm one of them.

Wal Mart

wal mart sell many products be sides gun products and if the local market is small they close it.I have been around a lot longer than any of you and there were no big stores except SEARS.many of the small locals would get the highest prices.when the big stores came in the smaller rip offs closed but the smart ones staid in compitition.same with hardwear stores.I live in SC now but lived all my life in Mass.the south is poverty row.and will be forever unless things change and it wont be obama.
best bet is to reload.then you dont have to worry about shortages.I cab load from 25acp to 45/70. as I am not a machist I dont care about magnums.and few before WW2 shoot more than a box a week if that.38S&W H&R was considered a satisfactory gun by many police dept.most people did not buy S&W or Colt. RANT OVER.

Wally World

Went into the Sporting Goods section at WallMart in Price George B.C. Canada to buy some hopefully well priced 22LR ammunition.
Their ammunition prices were no better than anywhere else and I do believe their prices were higher, their selection of calibers was limited to 22LR and a couple of others. They had no or very little choice of gr wts. Took a look at the gear in the ales, everything was pure garbage. Some of the stuff was of such poor quality I could not tell what it was or what it could possibly be used for and I have been hunting and fishing for over 50 years. There was no one in the department and there was no staff to be seen anywhere to help me in case I wanted to make a purchase. Now do not get me wrong here I am not knocking Wall Mart, I am only describing a recent shopping experience in their store.

Time goes on and prices go up!

I have been around this block a few times and when I was a kid growing up Sears was the largest retailer of firearms in the entire country. Latter that title went to K Mart. It was with and my still be with Wal Mart but when that title leaves Wal Mart someother company will pick it up. At least as long as our friendly socialist goverment will allow us to buy, sell and own firearms.

Right now I don't know of any stores Sportsmans who just got bought out by a Canadian Company or Cabela's that have really good prices on Ammo. Sorry guys but as long as it sells as fast as it comes into the stores be it Wal Mart, K Mart or the neighborhood gun shop they will sell it for the highest price they can get because the wholesaler is doing the same thing. The days of the .12 cent Hostess cup cake and Comic book died a long time ago, just like .20 to .32 cent gas. And we no longer make a dollar an hour.
