So How Long Did It Take For Your C&C Permit to Arrive?

I'm in SC and was told to allow for 3 months. Just figured that was "protocol" but given the leadership changing for the worse, I guess it may have everything backed up. It's going on 2 months now...

My good friend just got back from his concealed carry class. The instructor was the same one I had two years ago. I am very disturbed to learn what this instructor was teaching. First, my friend borrowed my cz 75 as he has only a ruger gp 100 .357, a gun I helped him pick out as he is new to pistols. For training for this class he borrowed an old browning 9 from his father and was getting used to semi autos. I insisted he try my cz as he couldn't understand how my groups were so good. He shot the first 10 rouds from 10 yards and a new world of accuracy was opened up for him. He loved the cz. Said his next gun is going to be a cz 75. I had tried to tell him that it made me look like a champ and the cz was more accurate than I was. Imagine my dismay when the instructor bagged all of the students firearms, my cz in particular as he said they were junk and fell apart after a few hundred rounds. specifically, the barrel would devolope a crack or weak spot near the muzzle. I've fired 2500-3000 rds from it and have only had one jam which I think was ammo. The next bomb this guy dropped was that a .357 mag revolver such as my biddies gp 100 or my service and security six .357 mags were " useless" for self defense as the bullet is too slow to cause damage. Specifically, actually saying that a 9mm is a better round because it is faster than a .357 mag ( which is isn't ) and that a nine with the right ammo will penetrate a human sckull where as a .357 mag will not. Am I on my own here in believing that this guy is full of crap? Sorry to be long winded, my first time posting. any thoughts would be welcome.

You better hope it's not like the 2-3 months in NY. I dropped off my application Aug 24. They told me 2-3 months. At 3 months they were "waiting for paperwork back from NY State Mental Health", at 4 months "It's been sent to the judge, could be a week, coould be 3".....

So here we are, 4 months 3 weeks, 3 days... still no permit.

AAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!! Why did you have to bring this up!:(:barf::o:eek:

Vegas has been good to me, only took about 2 weeks once I filed the paperwork :D I was happy. They say it CAN take up to 120 days in Nevada

Took me 48 days after my application was processed to get my CHP. I'm not complaining, I got it and did so faster than would be possible in some other places. :)

Depends where you live, some are taking over 5 months to get, they've been backed up in some places sense last summer. :confused:don't understand why.

I live in Houston, Texas. I was told by the CHL instructor it used to take about six weeks. Not even close!! A friend of mine has been waiting for 5 months. I do know another guy who waited 9 months but he had to get his fingerprints re-done. Its been 9 weeks of waiting for me so far. I did get a letter stating I could "track" the process of my application. Log on to the the web site it says "processing application" thats all no other info.

it took me 7 working days to get mine back and here im reading horror storys about wks and months.once finger printed it really shouldnt take long at all. i live in MI and like i said one wk.my instructor was alittle surprised he stated its usually 2 to 2.5 wks generally. i know states vary but good god months?

As I understand it, in Texas permits are to be issued or denied within 60 days of application, according to state statute. But they've been so overwhelmed in the past year that they're ignoring the time limits these days. I got mine last year, and it took four months, almost to the day.

rshanneck you must be in rural MI. Around Detroit its 2 to 4 months minimum. Wayne Co was 14 weeks for one friend of mine jus at the beginning of last year, an Oakland Co buddy was told 6 to 8 and he is still waiting in week 5, and two friends in Macomb were told 6 to 8 wks and its been 10 weeks and no appointment to stand in front of the gun board and explain the reason you want it. I am just starting week two myself and am not expecting it for the full suggested time as it took 4 hours of waiting to get my fingerprints taken.

Hope others are having better luck.

I'm in Sc, 95 days today, and still no permit. The state law says they have 90 days to deny me a permit, doesn't say how long it take to approve.

Turned in my paperwork mid-december, and was told I should have my permit in 30 days. 29 days later, I got it.

I live in Wake County which is the county with the state capitol.

Since it is one of the bigger and busier counties it takes much longer than if you go one county over in any direction. I got mine back in about 7 weeks, which was much faster than the first time I got one (i let it lapse like a dope and had to do it all over again).

I hear of neighboring counties getting them back a week or so later.

It all depends...

Went to the sheriff's office / filled out the paperwork / got fingerprinted / paid the fee. 10 working days later my laminated permit was in the P.O. box.

Another reason why I like Oregon.

In Florida, county doesn't matter. They all go to Tallahassee and it's taking months. Sent off my app in late October, nothing so far. There's a number on the web sight to call and check on your status, but it must be one line to one guy, 'cause every time I call, it's busy. They cashed my check in early November. No delay in processing that.
