Model 67 .38special

Hello all!!!
I just purchased a used S&W Model 67 .38 Special.
The serial number is 6K58XXX.
Can anyone tell me what year it was made and if it is rated for +P?? Have worn out S&W website for info but no luck!!!
Thankx for any info!!!

I just inherited a S&W revolver from my Father whose Parkinson's has gotten to bad for a snub nose .357. He switched to a .380 Walther instead but I need some info on the pistol and unfortunately the med's have wrecked his memory. My serial number on the snub .357 is 21K81XX. Does that sound familiar to anyone?

Engraved Smith Model 57???

Hey guys I was recently given this gorgeous Smith Model 57. I know nothing about Smiths but now have a growing interest. If anyone could give me any info on this pistol I'd greatly appreciate it.

This appears hand engraved, is this correct? A very very ballpark idea of what they might be valued at? Does Smith designate engraved pistols by "grade"?

The serial number is N707XXX, mfg date? MANY THANKS Y'ALL!

Made in 1974. According to S&W it is safe to use with +P ammunition.

My serial number on the snub .357 is 21K81XX.

S/N indicates a K-frame with adjustable rear sight made in 1977. Chambered in .357 Magnum it must be either a model 19 (blued or nickeled carbon steel) or a model 66 (stainless steel). The model number will be stamped inside the frame below where the barrel screws into the frame, visible when the cylinder is swung out.

Since you call it a snub it most likely has the 2 1/2" barrel (measured from cylinder face to muzzle). During the '70s and into the early '80s these revolvers were very popular as duty sidearms for police officers working in plainclothes.

Made in 1980. It appears to have good quality hand engraving (good sharp photos by the way). I don't know enough about engraving to say if it was done at the factory or done later by another engraver. This is a case where you want to get a factory letter which would indicate if it was factory engraved. Go to the website www.smith-wesson.com and there should be a link to direct you where to write.

Dave,

I have what I think is a fairly desirable M 27. Its a 27-2, 5" barrel, nickle plated, TT/TH, solid (no red insert in the front/no white outline in the rear) adjustable rear sight/ramp front, the cylinders are recessed and the barrel is pinned.

Serial number range is N 6275XX. Std S&W oversize 'target' grip panels are not serial numbered to the frame.

Can you tell me a bit more?

Thanks,

salty

Old S&W 22

Hey Guys,

I have an old .22lr, I believe it is a 22/32 built on an I frame. It has adjustable sights and a 4" barrel, serial # 532xxx

What can you tell me about it?

Thanks, 5 Stand Dan

Well, I never saw a 27 I didn't like, but you do have an unusual combination of features. I'm away from home at present and don't have access to my reference books, but from memory the s/n dates it to around 1980.

The stocks not being numbered to the revolver is correct for the time frame, as S&W stopped doing that around the mid to late 1970s. I believe they dropped the 3 1/2" and 5" barrel options in 1979, which doesn't quite jibe with the s/n. It could easily happen that someone in 1980 special-ordered a 5" barrel and S&W still had some in stock.

Pinned and recessed makes it more desirable. Generally buyers will pay a bit more for the TT/TH. I prefer the feel of a standard serrated trigger but that is just personal preference. Nickel is less commonly seen than blue. Not sure if it carries a premium, it really depends on what the buyer likes and wants. Nickel is very attractive, but then so is the S&W bright blue.

The 5" barrel on the N-frame .357 was a favorite of Skeeter Skelton. It does have a "just right" look on the N frame. I passed up a blued one in around 95% condition for $550 a year or so back and have regretted it ever since.

The description/serial number fits for a .22/32 Kit Gun (Prewar).
Serial numbers ran from 525670 in 1935 to 536684 in 1941.

625-6 Mountain Gun .45LC

Hi There,

I'm looking into purchasing a 625-6 .45lc mountain gun. On one side of the barrel it says .45 colt, and the other side says "Mountain Gun". The serial number is CAN92**. It's a 4" barrel (I believe). I'm mostly looking to find out what year it's from, and whether or not it's a pre-lock. I don't have it in front of me, or else I'd just look at it.

Thanks in advance for your help.
