Revolver. Relatively speaking, goes "bang" every time and for the 95% when not getting shot, much higher "fondleability" (be-holding) quotient...excepting perhaps a nice old 1911.

Semi for me. Perhaps the best argument I heard was from a rescue pilot from Viet Nam who has been shot down. His description of having to reload a revolver in that situation, vs. being able to slip a new magazine in place was pretty enlightening in terms of gross motor skills under stress.

Note: in his description of the story when he was shot down, he was carrying the issued revolver. Once he was rescued, he changed over to a semi-automatic, sorry, don't know any details about weapon selection.

Revolver...

Semi-autos are fun to shoot when they function ...But fun-time is over when someone plans to or is shooting at me.

Can not vote for just one.
I may carry a Revolver (Including Single Action) or a SemiAuto depending on the Situation or Occasion.

Voted revolver.

Just barely, however.

I carry a revolver just slightly more often than a semi-auto.

My current favorite to shoot is a semi (Baikal .22lr).

Love 'em both.

wheel gun - it's getting too damn hard to bend over chasing brass, besides, i can get a revolver in any cartridge denomination, even if I have to use moon clips..............

Revolver...more history, more character. I don't think I would ever be interested in buying another semi other than a glock or 1911. Maybe a mousegun.

Althouhg I consider myself proficient with both, I would have to vote for the revolver. I still prefer the simplicity and reliability of a revolver and the fact there are no concern over loaded or unloaded magazines. Plus, IMHO, the
.357 is still the king of the handgun rounds.

I'm pleasantly surprised to find revolvers ahead 86 to 81, with all the "tactical" marketing, movies, TV, and video games these days I would have expected the semi-autos to have a significant lead. Good to know that us wheelgunners aren't extinct yet.

While it's not a huge lead, it at least suggests wheelguns enjoy as much favor as semi-autos. I think there's a good reason for that.

Most shootings involve 3 or fewer shots. Those that involve 6 or more shots are a rarity. That tends to negate the two major advantages of semis- capacity and the fast reload. And if those features are negated, then a revolver may be a better choice for many people.

The revolver is the clear winner when to comes to specific activities like hunting where large amounts of power are needed. And their simplicity makes them the better choice for neophytes who won't spend a lot of time practicing.
