Quote of the Day...So now we can really Drop the Whole thing

Dianne?

This name means huntress! or goddess of the hunt

I wonder what turned her? :D

Walt Disney "murdered" a Great Horned Owl at the age of 10...
He went on a guilt trip and never came back...
to reality.

What a hoot!

Wild, the Democratic party is so fractured right now that what one dem says may apply to as many as 25 others, but the rest belive a totaly different thing.

The Dems were as surprised at winning as much as the GOP was at losing! The Dems look like a deer in the headlights, What the crap do we do now??
I,m not worried because they have no plan or leadership. Nancy Pelosi is a joke but she is third in line for the Presidency. Now that's scary!
This election was all about Iraq. Period!! Americans want security but have no patience to achieve it.

I believe what they do in the next two years will depend on events - a school shooting incident, mall shooting, workplace shooting, etc. using one of the "assault weapons" could motivate the Dimocrats into action. Without one of these motivational incidents, I'm with Wild - they won't do anything other than spending 2 years convincing the American public how reasonable they can be.

This election was all about Iraq. Period!! Americans want security but have no patience to achieve it.

Let me see if I can fix that statement for you.

"This election was mostly about Iraq. Americans want security but in a manner that actually makes us more secure.

As opposed to a manner which from only makes our global situation worse...But then again, the only people we're pissing off are non-americans so why should we even care? Kill em all I say! Hell, we shoulda used 'the bomb' on Korea and Vietnam, why not learn from our mistakes and do Iraq right...

Right?

While our nation is quite impatient, to say that Iraq isn't going well because we haven't had enough time...is ignorant. Adequate money/troops/leadership might be one thing, but time?? Riiiiiight...

Franks was speaking solely for himself, not the party. This was his suggestion as to what was important. It has about as much influence as Conyers calling for more gun control, which he has already done.

This election loss by the Republicans was ALL ABOUT IRAQ.

The American public threw Bush and Rumsfeld out of office, or atleast threw out as many Republicans as possible, since they couldn't throw these incompetents out on their ears. Americans threw the Republicans out 100% because of Bush and Rumsfelds INCOMPETENT "war" strategy. How long are we supposed to wait, as the worlds most powerful military drags on almost FOUR years to knock out a tiny 3rd world country? Americans were getting increasingly angry over the complete incompetence by Bush and Rumsfeld and anyone who was associated with the two of them. It is ridiculous we are still in Iraq. If possible, we should toss out Rove and anyone else who had anything to do with the incompetent management this Iraq "war" which is being run even more incompetently than Vietnam! Bush supported Rumsfeld right up to the election, how stupid can one person be? Rumsfeld is the poster child for incompetent military leadership and "war" management, this was the final nail in the Republicans coffin on election day. Conservatism did not lose on election day, the Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld Iraq "war" mess lost the Republicans the election, hands down. If I believe this, as a Republican and former Bush supporter, than I can only imagine how anti Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld/Rove Democrats or Independents have become. I think Bush/cheney/Rumsfeld/Rove are personally responsible for their incompetent leadership in Iraq and the "war" on terror and are the cause of the election loss, we should throw them all out and never speak their names again. And what have they done for us 80 million + gun owners? Didn't renew the gun ban? Wow....thanks so much! :barf:

My prediction is there will be something occur inside our borders which will cause them to suggest a gun ban so we can be "safe" from our enemies, and preserve our "freedoms".

Soo, Frank doesn't think they will talk about it - meaning they won't 'make it an issue'.

So what happens? You feel 'they' will not propose any anti-gun laws? But there are SOO many gun-related bills every session in congress - are they going to start letting them die in commitee? And when a bill does come to the floor(s)?...Not vote along party lines? Not back by action what they have been calling for for years? Suddenly vote pro-gun when they have always voted anti? Stop spouting anti-gun = anti-crime = anti-terrorism = child safety? Stop questioning why 'we, the people' need "military style" guns? Stop questioning why we need handguns?...Why we need semis?

Kennedy? Schumer? Pelosi? Rangle? Conyers? Feinstein? Reed? Boxer? Kerry? Clinton? McCarthy? Waxman? Lee? Berman? (anti-gun bill co-sponser THIS year) Frank? etc. etc. etc.

But FRANK says they will not talk about it...Whew! - real glad we have nothing to worry about!

Good Lord.

The Democrats only have 51 seats in the Senate (counting the two independents). Which means only two, or possibly one depending on which way Cheney would vote, need to break ranks in order to break their majority on a given issue. Considering that at least two of the recent Senate pickups have come out as pro-gun (and those are just the ones I've heard), I think we have a couple years before we really have to worry.

The Democrats are known for breaking party lines much more often than the Republicans. Which means that a slim Democrat majority in either house does not guarantee that the party can railroad their entire platform through Congress. Any crazy (or even moderate) anti-gun legislation that manages to slip through the House is likely to die in the Senate.

That said, I still have all three of my congressperson's addresses handy, in case they do anything silly.

Bus seriously, if you want to worry about gun control you should focus more on your state or even local governments, as that seems to be where more of the restrictions are likely to pop up nowadays.

It's a good point, WA, but that's Barney Frank saying that. You still have to wonder what will happen when Pelosi is speaker of house, and Schumer has the level of power that he does in senate. Both have more power than Frank.

You guys didn't notice the Murtha thing?
Pelosi backed him for the #2 spot and her caucus went tearing off in the other direction.
Proof positive that herding Dems (especially blue dogs) is about as simple as herding cats. Unlike the Republicans, this group will not be anybody's rubber stamp. You can look at this as a plus or a minus depending on your politics, but it's definitely good news where we as gun owners are concerned.

When Pelosi says "jump" on gun control, this congress will have something to say and it ain't "how high".

"I'm beginning to think maybe Nancy is STOOPID."

Careful. As much as we may all detest the prominent gun-grabbers in Congress, none of them is stupid. They're all masterful politicians, and they know what they're doing.

Tim

oh, she's going to be sneaky, devious and underhanded.
But she's not getting past the Blue Dogs.
The Murtha thing was idiotic. She spent a lot of political capital on a losing proposition and she knew it from the beginning. It may be loyal but it was stoopid.
If this is an example of her leadership she's going nowhere.
Of course she could wake up and get smart.

Hold them to their campaign promises. Make them KNOW that if they take a sharp turn to the left for whatever reason, they'll be one-term wonders.

If they resist the leftist leadership, campaign support via endorsement appearances and war chest allocations might be hard to come by when it's time to run again. The people versus the leadership may not be a fair fight.
