Quote of the Day...So now we can really Drop the Whole thing

That comment makes no sense whatsoever within the context of the article AND the actual political situation in Washington.

And we all know that the people in government never lie.
Nope, but we do know that they are not suicidal. As some commentator said, the Dems realize that the American Voter has given them a two year audition.

And its up to the guys here who live in places where ya have conservative or moderate democratic congresscritters to make sure guncontrol legislation doesnt go anywhere...remember, power comes before principles

Quite right. Those who championed nominally conservative, pro-gun "Blue Dog" Democrats need to make sure that they actually vote and act the way they campaigned. Hold them to their campaign promises. Make them KNOW that if they take a sharp turn to the left for whatever reason, they'll be one-term wonders.

Someone there will make it their issue. Some of them believe it is the answer to all problems. It will creep up again. Just got to keep watching everything they do.

You mean I bought fifty 30 round AR mags at double the price for nothing?
And I don't even own an AR!

Make them KNOW that if they take a sharp turn to the left for whatever reason, they'll be one-term wonders.

Yes, let them know now that the RKBA is non-negotiable.
I'm pretty confident that most remember what happened in 1994. I'm also somewhat confident a good number of them will not be bowing before Schumer and Kennedy.
Look at how the Republicans campaigned around the Iraq/WOT controversy.

Personally, I'd like nothing better than if they came out in January with a significant ban. I'd rather fight this battle right now, than after two years of them consolidating and playing bi-partisan. But, like I've said, they ain't dumb.

I love this one quote. "circular firing squad"

I had to stop reading for a moment and just put my head down.

I think Wild's right. Maybe we shouldn't be hoarding as many mags/cases-o-ammo/stripped lowers...

NAHHHHH!

One of my many qualities that annoys some people is my hopeless negativisim. Keep your eye's on them.

"The price of freedom is eternal vigilance."

"I think Wild's right. Maybe we shouldn't be hoarding as many mags/cases-o-ammo/stripped lowers..."

Wild couldn't be more wrong. If you think for one minute that Dianne Feinstein is going to give up on gun control, you're smoking crack. It's her reason for living--she's been promoting gun bans as hard as she can for as long as she's been in politics.

Same logic in the Seante. Its about power, not principles. She can make noise all she wants to satisfy her constituents, aint going nowhere

You mean other than the past few years, when her and Howie simply paid lip service to the issue?

Look, I don't doubt that she'd be all over the subject the minute she has a real audience. And she may again, in future. But today it is simply not an issue that resonates with the Voters, except in her own back yard and a few other isolated places. Gun Control simply has no legs just now. The battlefields are at the State level and, if we keep doing what we've been doing, we'll keep winning there.

The national battle is hardly over, I agree. But I just don't know how some of y'all survive the stress of "it's always just around the next corner"; one can only stay in Condition Red so long before you burn out.

Some folks just don't live in California.

some folks need to get involved in cali politics then.

On a national level, gun control is a loser, especiaslly when you are hanging on to power by a thread....

Uh, wild on this one you are way off base. CA has the most active political pro-gun lobby in the nation, and taking into account the barriers we face, the most successful. Just ask the NRA. Or visit calguns.com and see the power that is the people...

Yes, it *is* stressful, but that's just too bad for us, because I'm here to tell you that some of these people never, ever give up. There are several legislators here in California who always (and I mean always--at least one bill every session, no matter who the governor is) have a piece of anti-gun legislation in the works. Dianne Feinstein is no different, and she's not alone in Congress as a gun-hater.

I hope you're right, and the new crop of freshman moderate Democrat congressmen will leave gun control alone. I also hope that when DiFi introduces whatever she's cooking up (you *know* she's working on something) they don't simply follow the party line. I'm not willing to relax, though.

Tim

Being as her guy just lost for Majority Leader I'm not sure Nancy will be the Speaker of the House. The consertative Dems have to be ready to hang her.
She just doesn't get it.
I think her party may be starting to figure that out.
