PM45 Nightmare

Have you ever just tried loading the first round alone with no others in the magazine? Then Load either a full magazine or a none full one...

I know from my Seecamps, that smaller pistols can have a problem stripping the first round from a full magazine...

YMMV... Just a thought...

:)

Sounds like the issues I had with a MK 9, hopefully the factory fixed yours. Mine I was not so lucky but I moved on.

Have to lower with the slide stop? Give me a break this is counter to 60-80% of defensive instruction I have seen or recived... if you can't sling shot the slide what is wrong with the gun and it's design?

From what I've gathered in my surfing is that Kahr has done itself no justice with its polymer line of autos. They should have stuck with steel and maybe alloys for the frame.

Keep reading. Kahr is treating the OP well, as they did Ben before him, and as they did me. My PM9 had to go back but was fixed quickly, correctly and shipping was on their dime both ways. I've been carrying it daily and shootling it monthly for three years plus. Liked it well enough that I bought a P45, which has been trouble-free from the first round and has remained so for three years. Saw a guy with a PM45 at the range last month. He put at least 100 rounds through it without any difficulty. I know another local who has been carrying and shooting his PM9 for two years plus. And another acquaintance carries his regularly. These are people I actually know and have seen, not unsubstantiated internet tales.

As for me, I have no desire for a steel or alloy-framed Kahr, and you'd be hard pressed getting either of mine away from me.

Was at the range today and had to help an older gentleman. After firing 15 rounds his whole extractor unit flew out of the gun (new CW9). A friend and I were ale to find the pieces and put them back in. It seemed good to go after that. Couldn't find out what caused it to break free to begin with. Been seeing alot of problems at the range with polymer Kahrs.

Just to chim in a little I had problem with my CW and with the help of Ben who indeed has some connection with Kahr, because prior to his help support was non exsistent or on a long vacation. He's the Man .:D

Pm45

I have a PM45 I just bought. Gun works great. Unpleasant to shoot but worked fine. I carry a PM9 daily. Works fine. I had a Kimber 1911 that jammed every other mag. Didn't care what the 2nd mag was it would jam at least one round and many time 2 or 3 in a row.

The only jams I have had with my Glocks have been ammo related. I had a colt 1911 that would jam after about 100 rounds when the feed ramp got a little dirty.

I have enjoyed my Kahrs and trust my life to one. All gun brands have issues. Some seem more prone then others. I have had a MK9, pm9 covert, pm9, p40, p45, and now a pm45. The pm45 will get sold for the same reason I sold the p40. I could not get off a follow up shots in a reasonable time. The recoil is stout.

Kahrs are not all bad.

I am suprised because my CW 45 I find the recoil not much different then any other polymer frames 4 inches and under.I only have about 450 rounds through it but the DAO is smooth as sillk and find No problem with double tap drills at twenty five feet on silhouttes, granted there not tight groups but on the tactical aspect side it lands in the chest cavity area.I had a few FTE but maybe I limp wristed a few times but other then that I love it.

I think the only reason I got passed directly to the head of customer service was that I mentioned to the rep that I wanted to chronicle the repair process on TFL and let the members know what happens when you send your Kahr in for repair. It obviously served a dual purpose ;) But you know what? They fixed me up and a few other folks by the sound of it.

Glad to help though.

72 hr turn around!!!
I will go to the range Sunday and post my findings.
Goin' airboatin' tomorrow...wooo hooo!
Fill y'all in Sunday after the range.
I can say it did manage to load the 185 gr Cor-Bon +P w/o crushing them....
We'll see Sunday what she can handle. I have 300 rounds of Federal Ammo to put through her.

Ben you are the man!!!
W/O your assistance I don't know where I'd be. I will say the folks you turned me on to treated me like gold and were very easy to talk to and ready to address any issues I had and never disputed a single one. They simply said send it in and we'll look at it. As far as I'm concerned their customer service is everything you said it was. They took the time to understand my problems and even made time to BS a lil'.
I like these Kahr boys...good people!
Thanks again Ben!
Oh about the holster... I got a pocket holster that works pretty good in shorts and I think I'm gonna get a "Thunder Belt" for CC during the work week. I may get a paddle holster for jeans since I rarely wear a belt.

"I have a PM45 I just bought. Gun works great. Unpleasant to shoot but worked fine."

What's your other gun a .22? I can't see how anyone can say the PM45 is unpleasant to shoot. For a .45 that fits in the palm of your hand I'd say it's a kitty kat! My wife even shoots w/ no complaints...very easy to shoot.
No offense but i can rack this gun no problem (Kahr does not recommend it but had no choice when I was having feeding problems) and as far as recoil...I'd say it's different but Iiiiiiiiiiiii Like it! After almost 200 rnds my hand was starting to get a lil' red but that's easily remedied and besides it's for self defense not competition. If you need 200 rnds to put your problem down then you need an assault rifle...lol!

I have an XD compact 4" .45 that I can put all 14 rnds at 25' in about a 4" group. I can shoot it all day long w/ no pain whatsoever. Awwwwsome gun!

This gun (PM45) is designed for self defense. At 10' I can put 'em all where they need to be without aiming...just by simply repeating the same stance and grip.
This is not a tactical weapon...if that's what you're looking for buy a full frame.

I have to agree that recoil on the PM45 could be a lot worse than it is. I can't help but think that the ease of handling is due to the good traction I get with that grip texture, the full grip, and the lower bore axis. Look at the ramp on these Kahr's. They are offset to keep the flip minimal. Such a good idea. People really should give these things a whirl. I still wish they made steel PM45 (M45 maybe?)

One day,
Ben

PM45 recoil

I am glad you have little problem with the recoil. For me it starts digging a hole in the joint of my thumb where i connectc yo my hand. I still find it hard to have really accuarate follow up shots. To each his own.

Dan...

I agree the spike like grips hurt like hell at first, but I shoot it every week that I think my skin got hard or something that it stopped hurting. It was not meant to be an insult or anything and certainly hope I did not come off that way, If I did I apologize.cheers

Remow2112,
My thumb-knuckle joint area gets sore in the same place you're talking about too. But that's after 100+ rounds of full bore 230's. It's not uncomfortable just to throw 25-50 rounds down range. But you're right about it not being an all day shooter. It's a GREAT carry gun though.

Just finished the 200rnd break in...

on a P45 for a friend (can't shoot for a month due to surgery), and had 2 failures to feed first rnd in mag, 4 failures to fully lock up, and two failures to feed (slide closed on empty chamber). Ammo was 150 rnds PMC ball and 50 rnds Speer 230gr Gold Dot.

Recoil isn't bad in the little gun, considering what it is and what it shoots, but after a box or so, fatigue starts becoming an issue. Magazines were very difficult to load, the worst thing about shooting it.

Due to previous experience with the "pebbles" on the grip becoming a real pain after shooting a bit, the grip wears a wrap of electical tape. No problems now.

Sorry to hear about your troubles, the gun I shot worked pretty well, for new, and was noticably getting better when we quit for the day.

i loved my P9 and miss it every day.

i traded it for a beretta 92fs which is a great gun it would feed
rocks no sweat.

but my P9 was a wonderful shooter with a great trigger
and i miss shooting it.

if i wasn't now on disability and of course broke i would buy another one.

Kahr had some teething problems I think. My P9 went to my SWAT team for an eval and apporval for off duty carry and BUG and they said they tried but couldn't break it. My P45 is a real blaster and other than some break in related stopages has ticked along just great. Recoil is sharp but a two hand hold negates most of it and it is dead accurate. I now have a PM9 I bought second hand and found out its on the recall list. Called and spoke with Kahr and they said to shoot it 200 rounds with my carry ammo and see if it needs to come back. Rep said most don't but if it does they will fix it.
