Pistols you think are just a bad idea....

Desert Eagle. Sure looks cool, but if you're going to carry something that big you might as well just carry a long gun. It doesn't fit the bill for handgun hunting, definately isn't concealed carry, too big even to be a service/duty gun, and it can't do the job of a long gun. A totally over-hyped bad idea.....

I forgot to mention any pistol made from an AR-15 receiver,

I've got one of each....I love shooting bad ideas!!

you know... "The Judge"... when it 1st came out, I was baffled as to what it would be good for, but as I would suspect with most any gun, if we think long & hard enough, we'll find "something" the gun would be good for

... The Judge... I guess I could see keeping one in my farm truck... mount one of those tactikool lights on it, & keep for those nights about this time of year, when the crops 1st come out & I often find opossums & skunks on the road, which always seem to turn to the ditch, & head out waddling across the plowed field directly twards my house... many times I've headed out after one, with my Streamlight & my 4" 357, only to lose them in the dark... heading towards my house... The Judge just might make a better fall varmint truck gun than my 357...

one of those 45-70 derringers... I guess if the bear is sitting on top of me, I could stick my hand in his mouth & pull the trigger, if his mouth is not available, I could just put myself out of missery...

... which the backwards gun looks like it is quite capable of doing...

I don't have a Judge, but do have several of the guns listed, & even if collected, just because of their uniqueness, they all have at least some purpose, if one thinks about it long enough, & with enough creativity ;)

The IRR for this thread is much higher than average; IRR being idiotic response rate. I can't believe some of the comments from some of the people. A scope for a MAGNUM handgun IMPRACTICAL due to the looks? Do people really buy say a 460 S&W to shoot 10 feet or because of its "looks"? Have you ever shot a handgun over 100 yds? A scope is for long range shooting. Should we all just shoot iron sights on a magnum handgun because supposedly Elmer Keith killed a deer from 600+ yds away? I guess many people in this thread totally missed the OPs concept of impractical. How is a mousegun impractical? Does every CCW have to be 45 acp or larger? S&W, ugly? Well its been UGLY for over 100 yrs so apparently many people have no concept of "beauty" in revolvers. I'm not even going to comment on the nostalgia of shooting a BP firearm when its labeled as impractical.

Heres a little refresher for the glock haters: The gun was originally designed in hopes that it would be adopted as the Austrian Army's main sidearm. Why would it be designed for looks or be similiar to the 1911 which already existed? That was never the intent nor should it have been. The gun was built for FUNCTION and it FUNCTIONS...amazing isnt it?

I just had to vent after reading these.....assinine posts... I usually ignore posts that are absurd, but "serenity now" only works for so long...;)

TC Contender.

Had one in .22 LR, with the idea of using it as a cheapie in free pistol competition. Actual olympic free pistols being somewhat expensive...

When the hammer strikes, it jars the entire pistol slightly, making any serious accuracy impossible. IMO, it made it a fairly lame plinker too.

I wouldn't want one in more brutal calibers. Rides too high in the hand and that just accentuates muzzle flip. And if you can get that caliber in a revolver or other platform, why wouldn't you?

The point of a thread like this is to get an idea of how your fellow forum members view the gun market--to help understand how what they want in a gun (or don't want in a gun) differs from the way you feel.

The POINT is that how others feel WILL differ from how you feel.

If that insults you OR moves you to insults then perhaps you would be a happier person if you gave up internet forums.

One thing that is GUARANTEED when you bring together thousands of people from all over the world. There WILL be differences of opinions.

No more insults will be posted on this thread. Not even general insults aimed at no one in specific other than those who disagree with you.

If you don't agree with the opinions of others you're free to say so but NOT if you can't do so without including an insult in your statement of opinion.

No way!?!?:D

Anyway, I have to 3rd or 4th the Judge. I just can't figure out what the heck it's good for. It was predated by the Thunder 5 anyway.

PRIDE

I take pride in the fact that I have a BUNCH of guns that made this list, and a lot of them are on the first few posts.

Rock ON!!

Keltec PLR-16 - kind of along the lines of AR pistols.

I want to want this thing, but everytime I try to like it I can't figure out what in the heck I'd do with it...

Well, if it's a reason you need, how about long-range varminting? I bought mine just because I wanted one.:D

My logic was "What the hell. May as well". I find this reasoning works to increase my collection everytime. :D

People slam handguns that I own and enjoy as being "dumb" or "ugly" and likewise, folks extoll the virtues of ones I can't get my mind around the idea of having a use for or rave about the aesthetics of something I think looks like it was laid up a long time recovering from the beating it took from an ugly stick.
Opinions are like a certain orifice found towards the posterior region: everyone has one and everyone is convinced that their's doesn't stink. And it's probably just as well: it'd be a dull old world if everyone's tastes were identical and we were all pleased with one size, flavor, color, make, model, action type, trigger mode, caliber, etc.

Not at all. What I am saying is that BPP don't do anything that can't be done better with a cartridge pistol.

Disagree 100%. Black powder revolvers are much more forgiving of Crisco than cartridge handguns
