Overkill: The Rise of Paramilitary Police Raids in America

L Dad

I never said those words, I chose not to believe you.

I might have spoken in haste about your position because you don't put it in your profile, but you do seem to be rather naive. But that is fine.

Sir, you are a true believer in what you do and are to be commended. But you never have placed it in your profile.

I am who I am and I posted it in my profile. I think most should do that.
Most that cause and stir don't post in their profile. I have checked many and that is the conclusion I have noticed.

I believe every one should fill out the profile. My signature is full of who I am or have been. I am not worried about the ones who are offended by police.

I am offended by what some of them do. (police) 114 is very special where I worked not many use that term. I am proud of it.

You are accusing me of something I did not say, shame on you.
If in fact you are a LEO. That can get you in a lot of trouble if you put it on a report.

I was a LEO for many years, back in the 60's and 70's. I receive a pension. I just am going to receive my SS and medicare, I'll be 65 this year.

Let me know who you work for and I will be glad to tell them that you are to be commended.

Congratulations on your beliefs. Because the people who can make nonsense up can't post the same crap in the profiles for your beliefs.

Why should I believe your profile?

Mr Quinn, Mr Helm, and all those involved.....

I became too involved in this, and I am sorry.

Mr. Quinn, reading back over what has been typed in these umpteen pages, I concede you did not say what I stated. At the time it was typed, I felt you alluded that due our differing points of view, I must be lying. I am not convinced I am completely wrong, but I am convinced I spoke when I should not have.

Mr. Quinn, we come from two different worlds. I am a young cop, with only three years in. However, I was raised in a law enforcement family, with law enforcement friends. This is in Oklahoma, which I am sure has not caught up to the level of crime and turpitude that California was in the period you worked the streets. To be honest, I hope it never does.

This may very well explain the chasm at which we have arrived. The quality and quantity of those who are against us would most definitely dictate the force responded with. I can also understand the somewhat callous and cold regard toward that which many coin naive. I simply hope I can make my 20 years without reaching that point.

Again, my friends, I apologize for my quick and terse statements. I will attempt to meter my responses a bit more responsibly next time.

Only thing you did, young man, was to wax passionate about your beliefs. Would that we were all as articulate in our passions as you. I appreciate Bud stepping in, but I think I can speak for him when I say there was no foul on your part.

Threads can heat up with us in the vortex. At those times we need to get a little twinkle in our eye and turn that passion to something with a bit less heat. That's hard for all of us, especially when personally challenged. Suffice it to say, "you done good" and we want the thread to stay on track.
Rich

ps: If it hasn't been said recently, Thank You.....not only for the job you do, but for the mindset you bring to it. If ever we cross paths in an LE encounter, it would be my enormous pleasure to "meet you" about 90% of the way to what it takes for you to know you'll be getting home safe....because I'll already know I'm 100% safe. I couldn't ask for more of a public servant than that. Don't ever let the System, the Young Bucks or the "I tell you I've been there and done that" crowd change you one iota. You are really such a keeper!

Thank you....immensely.

I very well may be naive, and if I am,I hope I stay that way for a long time. I have no desire for the rotten underbelly of society to convince me that I must stoop to its level to succeed.

I was told, a long time ago, that respect garners far more accomplishment than fear. I have been able, in my short career, to crack more crime, arrest more bad guys, and solve more problems through communication and empathy thatn I have through the use of my baton and taser.

Are there real, scary bad guys out there? You bet your ass there are. However, the majority of folks are decent people who make bad decisions. We have all done it, and all it takes is a little introspect, and a realization that the only difference between the cop behind the wheel, and the guy behind the cage may possibly be one bad decision.

Thanks for the comments but really you don't need to apologize. I to hope you can get through all and collect your pension.

I was an Enforcer of laws that is correct and simple, we helped people all the time, many got home safe because we were there.
I worked my last years in a division that was known for crushing crime, stake outs, stopping or trying to, the Gangbanger's. The muggers, the killers, the robbers, the burglar's, the hostage taker's, the rapist's etc., etc.

Every night we worked many went to jail, it is/was the nature of the beast (crime). One of the toughest cities and crime ridden areas, and still is.

I worked the areas where the Blood and Crips, originated and are still there. The division I worked did all the hot spots of the city, trying to slow the sea of crime. The underbelly that you call it is there at all times and to defend ones self or to fight is not stooping to the level, it is survival. Every night shots were fired people died. Some were police or victims or the bad guys.
I walked into a shooting where 5 people had died minutes before arrival.
I have seen more dead than days in a half year. Not counting the wounded or traffic victims. I can go on and on.

Working what they call Watts, was like being at the forth of July on some nights, the amount of gun fire was unreal. But you know, it was real.

I was there did it and liked it.
No bad record on my sheet, nothing but good stuff. Believe it.

The bad cops, few and far between, some got caught and some didn't, but there are a heck of a lot more good, believe me.

Don't transfer out of where you are sounds good. Don't change, I wish you luck.

But I will tell it from my side also.

LEO=Law Enforcement Officer
Police= A force responsible for enforcing the regulations of an organization etc.. I could go on, that is what we did.
Military, is to do what they are designed to do. Helping others that can not help themselves is normal Operating procedure.
Like I mentioned LEO is ParaMilitary. Look around. If you want to change it, vote.

This deserves being spread far and wide as true wisdom.

I agree very good thinking

Like I mentioned before I would like to know where he works.

Good time to write an e-mail to his chief and try to get him promoted.
He would be good in that position as a supervisor, explaining his thoughts to the younger officers coming on the job.

I'll tell you where I worked. Metro Div. LA, CA.
Just call the desk and tell them "Tinman" said Hi.

P.W. knows me well. I believe he is the senior (more time on the job) man on
the job now, over 40 years I believe. Worked for him for about 7 years.
At different locations during my time on.

No need to tell everyone just let Rich know, I am sure he will be more then happy. He does it all the time.

Stop them at the doors

Enter the shaped charge door. They breach it , it breaches them. Hard inner metal, with light outer metal. Then you take out the rest. It exists believe me. Don't ever try this at my house! Keeps the bad guys out.
