9X32R (.357 Magnum)

And yes it is an autoloader cartridge. Think Coonan (1911) etc.

If I have to stick to the list.....45 ACP

Sam

Yes, and...

...in addition to your .44 Magnum revolver, you get an autopistol. What caliber is it in?

I'll take my 45 Super if ammo isn't a problem. I also see you didn't list the 357 & 44 mag. These can be had in the Desert Eagle, same as the 50AE.
The 45 Super, for those umfamiliar with this round throws 45 caliber bullets faster than 357mag velocities. All from a 39 oz 1911A1!

I'd have to say 9mm since it's cheap enough to buy a lot of, is available anywhere, yet can still be used for defensive purposes.

Plus there are LOTS of pistols of all sizes in this caliber and you can even find a lot of carbines and SMGs that shoot it.

Voted 10mm for it's versatility. But it depends. If the SHTF, there's liable to be alot of 9mm lying around...

9mm

The 9mm can be used in tiny little spitwads (okay, a Keltec P11 isn't as tiny as a P32) to carbines and machine guns (UZI's, etc.)

<sarcasm on>
You he-men should figure out how to get a .50 BMG autoloader in a handgun package. Saw off the barrel to about 2 inches, put on a pistol grip, etc.
<sarcasm off>

I voted the .22.

The most logical reason I can see for limiting myself to one caliber semi auto would be financial.

My .22 semi autos are mostly low end and worth less than the centerfires.

:::OTOH:::
If it were'nt my decision, and our gvt decided to go the route of banning, restricting military/leo calibers,,,,,,,

What? No .30 Mauser?

:)

I voted .22LR. So will everyone else when they reach my age.

The other "best" would be the above .357 mag w/.38 spl capability.

Course, I thought it was eliminated by the word "pistol" in the poll and the fact that all the choices were auto rounds.

My 4 1/2 inch high standard HD Military .22lr would be the one I would keep. For target shooting, plinking, small game hunting and shootability it is tops in my book. I would use it in self defense if I had to, but I'd prefer a shotgun or a revolver.

500 rounds for 10 bucks doesn't hurt either. Good shooting, Weagle
