One handgun only...what would it be?

For me it would be my Blackhawk .357/9mm convertible. It is a joy to shoot, and is comfortable to carry thanks to the 4 5/8" barrel. Eventually I am going to do a Bisley grip conversion and then it will be perfect.

Ruger .45 BH convertible. Does everything that needs doing. That said .... a .22 revolver really is necessary too.... Don't see how one could be 'stuck' with just one handgun around ....

44

My Ruger Blackhawk 44 mag. You can hunt with it, Protect your family and what ever comes up. In self defense I would chose my Beretta 92 but you said one gun. :)

My only pistol?

It would be my East German PM.

Small enough to carry (I have), powerful enough to stop someone with good shot placement, accurate enough for consistent head shots, reliable 100%, and ammo, even hollow points, available at reasonable prices, plus silky smooth DA action, and decocker.

I love other guns I own (my Glock 19, my Seecamp .32ACP, etc.), but if I only had one, it would be my DDR Makarov!

no question

A medium frame (K) .357 mag 3 or 4 inch, likely a Model 19 or 66. An old Ruger Security Six another good candidate. Adjustable sights. A round butt if I could find the combination.

Either my Glock 19 or my Ruger Security Six 357 with 4" barrel. Probably the Ruger, it is ultra reliable and fires two different calibers.

one only

for what reason would we have one handgun? If it was excrement being hurled into the oscillating wind machine I would want a Colt SSA 45. with a 7" barrel. You can hunt with it and good self defense. IF it's one gun for self defense, now that that is a different game all together. My S&W 4"686 in a shoulder holster loaded with +P ammo.

One Handgun Only

Thank God this is not for real.... One Only?

Maybe my Stoeger Cougar compact 9mm

But I also like my Ruger SR9c

I also like my Bersa Thunder .380

Glock 20 10mm. You can hunt with it if need be or do the whole defense thing.

Now if this were some end of the world scenario I would have said anything chambered in 357 Sig, as that was the only ammo I ever saw consistantly during the shortages following the 2008 elections. After all the stores get ransacked I'm sure there would still be some of this ammo laying around.
