on common politeness

Similiarly a poster asks about a 22.

Next thing he is being told he needs a 357 or 555 Boomenmagnum.

This is one of the worst things I see done on Internet forums. The guy asks a simple question, people post everything but a simple answer, then fight over their off-topic contributions until the thread gets locked.

I wonder how many people suffer through this and just say 'To Hell with it" and move on. We are doing gun owners in general, and novices in particular, a terrible disservice when this occurs.

I agree if a OP ask a specific question answer that question. I hate it when an OP says I have gun A B C in mind of the three which is better. Then someone come and says I would go with gun D E F G or Z .

If it was so common we wouldn't complain about is comparative rarity.
Some people can't express themselves without being vulgar or exaggerating, or both.
I do not like Glocks, Glocks are not junk, or crap, or POSes-I simply don't like them. I don't care for the M-16/AR-15/M4 or its cartridge, carried one Across the Pond, haven't touched one since I retired from the Reserves.
These are not Gospel nor are they Truths from On High-they are simply my personal likes and dislikes.

"This has matched my experience exactly. Some brand-specific forums exhibit outright hostility toward complaints, even to the point of deleting threads or attacking those with problems."

This is why it was such an eye-opener for me when I started frequenting the Smith forums. So many complaints on bad QC that I no longer believe they deserve the reputation they have on THIS forum.
