A guy walks up to a panhandler on the street selling pencils.
"How much for a pencil?" asks the guy.
"$1 Million Dollars" says the panhandler.
"Wow", says the guy, "You're not going to sell many pencils at that price".
The panhandler replies: "I only have to sell one."

In before the lock ;)

You may call it price gouging, but in reality, this is simply capitalism.

We should all be very wary of anyone - especially the government - dictating how private business operates. A free and open market system is what made this country great.

Ok...let me understand this....if I sell plywood and a hurricane is on the way...and I jack up prices 1000%...that's just free market....Been there, seen that happen and the state of Texas went after people who profited on someone's grief and suffering.

What about this for free market....they can sell it for a million $ now, but I wont buy it from them and when prices stabilize.....I wont buy it then either never from them, because when they had a change to rip someone they took it.....now that's free market.

ANYWAY U CUT IT OR TRY T O EXPLAIN IT,it still boils down to ripping off the public! They sure lost my business with that underhanded dealing. I'm all for people making a profit, thats what makes our county great, but that is just plain trying to rob the customers@!!!

Oh, boy....Here we go again...

This is a different scenario that doesn't mirror the ammo issue.

How is it ripping off when they clearly state the cost of their ammo and the product isn't defective? There are countless avenues available to buy elsewhere without succoming to buy from CTD.

CTD was one of the worst gougers after the election. I agree - it's just capitalism, but I sure as hell won't buy from them ever again. That's capitalism, too.

Prices For .380....

I talked to one of the brothers that run my local gun store a few weeks back, and they couldn't get any FMJ .380 at all, they also run concealed carry classes every couple of weeks. He was telling me that the only option he had to supply students taking the course was to sell them hollow point self defense ammo, at around $1.00/round.

So how many boxes ye goin buy....let me answer that...zero...same as me....why?....BECAUSE YOU DON'T WANT TO GET RIPPED OFF:D That is the way you call it rippin folks off.

Its time to check out your local small gun shops. I can still buy a box of 50 .45 acp FMJ rounds for 19.95. It's not cheap by any means, but its not the $50 i have seen elsewhere.

That's what I do. Gave up on Wal-Mart...of course. I now buy from a choice of about 6 small gun shops in my area. All have ammo all the time. About $20 for (50) .45ACP and $17 for (50) 9mm. Two of the shops have ranges attached, so I just buy and shoot.:)

Oh, and Dick's had some .45ACP for $18 box of 50 the other day.....Remington Green Box.

IF YOU DIDN'T BUY THE AMMO, HOW CAN YOU POSSIBLY CLAIM THAT YOU GOT RIPPED OFF????!!!

I'm so sick and tired of people not even knowing meanings of the simplest of terms....

With current supply and demand, if you want it NOW, you will pay the high prices. If the price is too high, then do not buy.

Wait a bit, and the panic and the prices may decrease. Of course, that may not be how things play out.

Personally, I bought heavily before the panic, during the panic, and plan to continue after the panic, if Dear Leader premits it.

I have a fair supply. My current rule is I do not shoot unless I can immediately replace any ammo I shoot....if not I just wait. That way my supply stays about the same size.

Is [this] really Cheaper than Dirt or old fashion price gouging?

Cheaper than Dirt is just a name, same as most 'dollar' stores.

The market is self-correcting. When people stop buying that product at that price, the price will come down.

I have dealt with CTD before, and have been generally pleased. I have had call to return items to them, and their customer service has been efficient and friendly enough. One caveat: shop around. They are quick to raise their prices when the item's demand outstrips it's supply, and slow to adjust it down when things equalize.

Recently, I was buying some Federal 9BPLE 9mm ammo. CTD had it for over $30 at one point! This is surplus ammo, remember! Even as I was buying it for $17 per box from a couple of other sources (ammunitiontogo.com, streichers.com), they still had it at about $22 per box.

When you have the market cornered, you can set the price. I don't cry foul at that; it's just the way the world works. Maybe someday, cars will run on Doberman hair, and I'll be the one rolling in dough. However, they earn no loyalty from me for doing that.
