Nightstand

I don't have a night stand, but mine is under my side of the bed in a case. I guess that would be similiar to being in the night stand.

No kids and my dog doesn't have thumbs so I'm good.

Mine is on my nightstand right next to my pillow at night, inside the nightstand during the day ... only my wife and I, so far my dog has shown no interest in learning to shoot ... I'm guessing the gun-eating dog mentioned above was more likely interested in eating the holster and the gun was along for the ride; either way, glad it was moved without incident ...

I have a daughter who started walking several months ago. Im basically SOL when it comes to top of the night stand rests, my prefered rest. I keep my 1911 with two loaded mags in the bottom drawer of the night stand. My wife is still unsteady about it. She wont let me keep a shotgun outside the safe.

I keep a S&W Model 60 snubbie on the night stand, and a Walther P38 in a clip on holster clipped on the bed frame rail, and a WWII German boot knife clipped next to it. And usually three or four other handguns on the dresser and desk. Just the wife and I, so no kids to worry about.

Mine is IN the stand drawer. I make sure the other stuff in there isn't in the way and it's setting in there the same orientation every time so I can grab it while its dark and know exactly how its in there.

I don't just toss it in there.

It's a 1911 in condition 1.

I have one son but he's 10 weeks old so its not an issue yet.

Hogfan of all the places you choose the bottom drawer of a nightstand? Why not someplace higher like the top drawer of a dresser?

Jibberjabber, you need to call Lifetime and tell them your idea. Sounds like a movie right up their alley.

My nightstand is at the foot of the bed, but my gun is above my head facing the wall, with a shotgun across the room.

I would keep my shotgun under my bed but uh, my dog once threw up there and uh. Not a good idea. :o

In the same exact spot on the nightstand every night, as are the Surefire and the cell phone. I keep a bottle of water for night time sips on the floor next to the bed. No kids, no dogs and the cat's too lazy to learn to shoot.

For a short while I was keeping a Glock handy for defense, then decided if I made a panicky, half-awake grab for my gun in the dark I wanted to be sure I didn't grab it the wrong way and have it discharge. I then left it in a holster, and began worrying if I'd remember to take it off first. Now I keep a DA/SA auto left on-safe. It's on the nightstand at night, and either on me or in the safe during the day.

I live in a three bedroom apartment with a roommate and my brother. We are all armed in the house. I keep a 1911 cocked and locked in a holster rigged to my computer desk which is directly next to my bed, I have a PF9 loaded close by (not using that, though) and a Mossberg 500 in the closet chambered with safety on. Everything else is unloaded and stored close by.

Double barrel 12 ga beside the bed, no kids in house.
I'm not gonna try to clear my house. I will hold up in the bedroom with my buckshot & call 911. If it is something outside the 357 in the coffee table will suffice. Also keep 38 in the night stand, just 'cause I can.

I keep my 229 and spare mag in the nightstand ready to go. I might add that my wife is ok with and ready to use it as necessary. The nightstand is on my side. As mention above my dog or cat show no interest in shooting.
