Nightmare gun sale and jerk FFL

I just read through this and that other forums' threads about this guy. What an obnoxious fool. I am speechless. Wow.

PS: It was a real gripper, though. I was on the edge of my seat for a while there.

I called the gun shop to ask their take about it. I asked for the manager/owner. I got about three words out of my mouth and heard these *******s as the phone was hung up.

I was probably wasting their time which may not have been fair. Meh.

He posted his "take on it" in the other forum. It consisted of him lying about me being rude to a female employee I never even spoke to, a lie saying I represented myself to him as an FFL even though I had never even spoken to him a single time before the gun was in his possession, a lie about how I broke the law by mailing it to him, and several other creative changes to the facts.

This dealer probably has a loyal following of a few who he deals with consistently. PBP's buyer probably being one. I wonder now how much he will continue his relationship with this guy. It probably depends on who's side of the story he believes, not on common sense.
The most logical thing for this guy to do would have been go on with the delivery of the firearm, with a warning to the purchaser that his policy was to only accept guns from another FFL.
It sounds like he really did not know the law, and is too stubborn to admit it and move on. From the rating of his business, it sounds like maybe his stubbornness and pride get in the way of a lot of his deals. Hopefully, he is man enough to realize his mistake, learn from it, and move on to be a better business man and representative of the firearms industry.

I'd post the UPS or FedEx tracking number to show that THAT part (about MAILING IT TO HIM) was a lie -- and suggest the other parts were equally false...

The buyer chose this FFL and the buyer should have asked his FFL all the right questions, the first should have been " do you accept firearms from non FFL senders" its the buyers problem, not yours....Cash the check, your done...

He did not deny I sent it overnight. He knew that was too easy for me to disprove. He claimed it was against AZ state law for a non-FFL to mail a gun to an FFL period. Which was also easy to disprove.

I went to the other website and read that thread. WOW what a piece of work that guy was. I'm glad it worked out for you. I wanna go to the BBQ too!

PBP,
People in my generation are using google for almost everything. That includes a businesses feedback. I would recommend you search for him on google and leave feedback.

The FFL in this case CAN'T return the gun to the seller because he has no FFL from the seller in his records.

He may be waiting for the seller to arrange for an FFL on his end to send him a copy before he ships the gun back.

If necessary, I might oblige him, but I would take whatever expenses are incurred out of the purchas check.

I don't see the problem. You have the money, the FFL has the gun correct? You did everything right. The problem is the buyers. He can't get HIS gun from the FFL you have nothing to do with it. Tell the buyer you sent the gun as the law provides. You have the documentation showing this. The FFL has his gun but refuses to release it. If the shop wont give him his gun he should take legal action. If you ship something to someone and the UPS guy refuses to give him the package it isn't your problem. Once the package is recieved by his agent on his end you are out of the loop.

So, I don't read ALL the posts in a thread like this, but I do read the first couple of pages and the last couple before I post. I think it would almost be appropriate to lock this.

AZ state law can only control transfers within the state. Federal law controls interstate transfers. So, he's wrong again...

On a side note....

Actually I think the jerk FFL could have returned the gun to PP legally. NO transfer of the gun was being done... no different than if he had shipped the gun to that dealer or anyone else (gunsmith) to be repaired... No FFL actually required if you think about it.

I need to go back over to the Northwest forum and see how it actually ended up....
